Hello capsuleers,

I was buying caldari fuel and instead of type the price in the correct box I typed the quantity and viceversa.

So i bought 21.383 quantity of caldari fuel for 35.000 isk.

How is possible that i got no warning about the price i was entering? It's 50% over the regional average price!!
And the cool thing is that my order got fullfilled INSTANTLY. I couldn't even see the buyorder in the market window.

What to do now? Suck it and continue trading?

I think I deserve a reimbursement and the caldari fuel given back to the owner.
Maybe i'm wrong.

Suggestion?

ps: I ******* have to remember to stop trading after 5 mins that I'm awake.

That was your own fault I'm afraid. Always read carefully what you are buying and selling.

Even if it says 2x PLEX in the description player made doesn't mean there actually are 2 plex in the contract :D

what about the warning when you overprice something? A typo is something that can happen.

This thread is for entertaiment, If I have no chance to get it back it will be just a wall of shame and troll the ****** :)
It's a win win situation.

When changing how much you're buying, always hit tab and review. And it will tell you that it's 50% over average. Right next to the price on the buy window.

I know that it is wrong to pre-judge people but after reading the thread title I'd already picked an answer. My money went of the second choice and whilst, after reading the OP, it is not strictly accurate it's definitely on that end of the choices.

So yeah, order was instantly filled at the price you asked to pay because there was plenty of it available at a lower price should you have asked to pay that instead.

The warning when you enter a price that is too far removed from the regional average can be disabled with a checkbox. Guess what most people do? "Yeah yeah yeah! I know it's really overpriced/underpriced stop bugging me. "

I didn't reset that option, because I already screwed up once selling an armageddon for 39mil instead of 390mil.
That time the window came and I just ignored it, THIS TIME it didn't...
That why I was trying to get clarification.

None of the replies so far actually address your question, and some have incorrect information. There was a change to the market order user interface a while back that actually changes the price of your order to the price of the best matching order if the price you originally entered was worse (lower for selling, higher for buying.) That might prevent you from paying a completely ridiculous price, but it has its own problems. First thing is it should have an automatic pop-up that says something like "Hey idiot I had to fix this for you because you put in the wrong price so maybe you should check to see if you really want to do this, m'kay?" Instead it defaults to checking if the price is off by more than a certain amount from the average regional price, and since they have already fixed your buy order to match a sell order the chance of it hitting that trigger is minimized.

In short "tab is your friend." Get into the practice of hitting tab every time after entering numbers in a market order window. Never hit enter until you have reviewed the order to see if ALL the numbers make sense.

Sorry to hear about that mate ... IIRC, the game won't warn you until it's stupidly high or low priced (70% over region?), though I honestly don't pay close enough attention to that to really know where the cutoff is..

On the upside, you made someone's day Smile

I got caught out by a typo as well ...I typed 3003.079 instead of 3003.79, all it cost me though was the 5 minutes I had to wait until I could next amend it. Big smile

I have made some real blunders before though, they just make me wince a little, but all the information you need about % over regional and quantity is there, just READ whats there, that'll fix the bug. Blink

Fly safe. o7

It's broken and it's been broken for a long time and it'll be broken for some time to come.

yeah it was definetly my error, I'm not trying to justify myself, I got cocky because I was sure the warning would appear.
but it does only with very big difference from regional average, 50% is not enough.

**** happens :)

You are misinformed. See: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1389602

Whatever price you put into the order box is the price that will be used when trying to find an order. If you accidentally put in a number that's too high when buying something, you will buy from the lowest available outstanding sell order and you will pay whatever price you entered. Likewise, if you put in a number that's too low when creating a sell order, you will sell to the owner of the best buy order, and he will only have to pay whatever price you entered.

No adjustment occurs to match existing orders.

You could check who you bought it from (in wallet transactions) and evemail to ask if they are willing to reverse it.

Some might actually do it. I would if asked nicely. Smile

There is a warning which will pop up if you attempt to buy goods which are well above the regional average if you're buying from sell orders (although I can't recall whether I've ever had reason to see it when placing a buy order so I can't be certain whether it appears then but I can't see why it wouldn't)...
The threshold for that message is much higher than your 150% however and given how many modules I see for which the regional average is less than half the manufacturing cost any reduction in that threshold could get quite painful...
