Calling all fiction writers - EON needs your words!

It's fair to say that over the last year or so we've not been as up on our EVE fiction as we used to be, but we're aiming to get back to checking out the best of what's out there and herding a couple of writers into writing for the magazine. To that end, if you're a writer of fan chronicles (or know of one) and would like to have your future stories considered for publication in EVE's official mag, we'd love to hear from you.

There are a few rules to consider: Any work has to be your own, of course (duh). Secondly we'd prefer if the piece hasn't been published before. Although we have been known to accept stories that have been posted via a blog, that has only been in spceial circumstances.

As for the subject matter, New Eden must feature heavily (Azeroth not so much). Meanwhile your characters should be entirely fictional and divorced from any mains. If the hero of your tale is an established EVE character, the name will have to be changed. Likewise with corp names and alliances (although a passing mention that your hero saw a Goon pilot pass by would likely be fine). Anything else pretty much goes, but if you break the laws of EVE science or have people like Tibus Heth making sexy time with a goat, the story will have to be drastically revised.

What do you get for your 1400-5000 words? Well you get to be published in a lovely, printed glossy magazine all about EVE (and will receive a free copy of course). You also get ISK (not much, but some) and your story will join a number of others as official fan chronicles, approved by the lovely people at CCP and illustarted by the finest artists we can (ill) afford.

For your scanning pleasure, here's a chronicle by the mighty Istvaan Shogaatsu, published way back in 2005 in the very first issue.

Contact details are in my profile bio. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Expressing interest..

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

That's down to the writer, but I think fiction has more impact when there's a feasible name behind it. Consider Phlebas wouldn't be quite the same if it had been written by Lord Spunky, for instance.

I hope that the Community are able to get behind the EON chronicle push. I too will be trying to generate up a few options.

However I do have another suggestion, one that would be a community writing experience. Take a basic story, a battle for example, and then you get different writers to write the battle for their point of view. Snapshots and then mix the story together to give a sort of snapshot from one viewpoint to another.

Not sure explained that very well but... anyway... writing time

Not a bad idea. In actual fact I'm also keen to find to war reporter to take over from FinnAgain (The 0.0 Report). If anyone's keen, get in touch.

Agreed with Vieve.

And with FW about to heat up (hopefully), there may be some opportunities for this soon.

Nice. Now I have even more incentive to finish that story.

I was wondering though, have any stories from Silver's Second Annual Fiction Contest been published in EON, and if so, which?

I think we've published the winner and all the second-placed stories, although it was a while ago now.

Zapatero, what kind of word count would be best for an Eon story?

So how do we know if our submissions are along the right lines? I emailed awhile ago but didn't get any feedback or anything.

Do I just take the hint and move on or keep sending stuff!?
