Odd drone behaviour

Was semi-AFKing an L4 in my Ishtar, orbiting five Garde 2s. Came off the phone to find the mission complete (can't recall which - lots of damping but nothing else out of the ordinary) and all the Angels dead. However, my drone overview box was showing only four (all undamaged) drones remaining. The main overview box was showing five. When I recalled the drones, only the four shown in the drone overview box came home; the fifth had to be scooped. When I returned to base, I found the dormant drone had zero hp remaining. That's the first time I've ever seen this happen - any explanations/theories about why my drone became (for one mission, at least) immortal?

In this mission there were other drones? Perhaps your 5th drone killed the last other drone and then became the one. /bad highlander joke

Happened to me a few times, its not very common but drones can become "incapacitated".

See this thread, post 4 for a plausible explanation:

This can happen but it's a bug. Sometimes your drone gets to 0 hp and for whatever reason mobs stop shooting at it, at this point the drone is not dead but not active any more, you have to scoop it and repair it.

But yes this happens more or less frequently.

QFT. I've had it happen a time or two myself.

Fascinating - thanks very much for the reference. Despite the logic of the argument in that thread, I'm going to call that drone Bela Lugosi from now on, chanting "undead, undead, undead" whenever it's in use.
