Battlecruiser racial skill change?

In local the other day someone was talking about the Battlecruiser skill and how CCP plans on making it racial. I trained it to 5 along with Command Ships and am curious to how this will effect me? I trained Caldari and Amarr Cruiser both to 5 as well so I could fly both races Command ships so what happens when this skill turns into a racial one? Will I have to just pick which race to apply it to or what?
Any info is appreciated, thanks!

If you can fly it now you can fly it after the patch. So I assume if you have it to V you'll have all the race BCs to V once they split them.

I'd get all racial cruisers to 4 at least as I believe that will be the new pre-req for racial bc.

Planned on doing the other 2 cruisers to 5 anyway so I guess I will do that sooner than later. Any idea on when this patch is coming out?

Probably August (Inferno 1.5).

They have to do changes to destroyers and battlecruisers before they split thos skills to racial destroyer/battlecruiser. They rebalance T1 frigates and cruisers before that. They have only started with frigates.

You know what happens when you assume?

They could break it down where each race of BC is exactly 1/4th of the current skill. I think if they decide to do it they will just refund you the SP and you will have to make the best of what you have. Of course I'm just assuming that :-)

The current BC skill is rank 6. 6 / 4 is not an integer (it is, in fact, equal to 1.5). Not only would we be left with the unprecedented situation of skills with a non-integer rank, but also the skill for a larger ship hull (BC) would be lower rank than skill for a smaller ship hull (not only cruisers but also frigates and destroyers!). Granted the first problem could be solved by doubling the ranks of all skills in the game and halving the base SP cost. However, the second problem would require a rework of the ranks of many (if not all) starship command skills.

It's not an assumption, they've flat out said that you will still be able to fly any ship after the patch that you could before the patch. The only question is if they make Cruiser x a prereq to get the BC SP (and that would mostly be for the RP people who want to only fly specific races).

Wouldn't you have the racial BC to level 5 anyways if you have BC 5 right now?

Why would you? If you can only fly 1 race of BCs now what makes you think that suddonly you will be able to fly them all after the change?

Based on the dev posts I've read, it sounds like this change is MANY months away.
