Whiners.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

I don't think this so much. True there is a competition gap, if new players want to oust old players, probably won't happen. However new players can work with old players to turn the tide of a war. Two alliances, if one is exclusive, the other works with and trains rookies for certain roles, well, that has an advantage.

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

If you focus on an objective, you can become competitive fairly quickly. The difference between long-term players and new players is often that the long term players have had an opportunity to train more variety. But for a given ship and fitting, variety is not important.

Long term players have also had a chance to get more long-train Lvl 5s. But the difference between Lvl 4 and Lvl 5 is actually usually pretty small in practical terms. Pilot skill rather than skill-queue skill will be a much bigger factor.

The competitiveness gap between old and new players is largely a myth. It might exist in your first few weeks in the game, but if you focus training on a particular weapon system and tank, you can close the numbers gap completely within a few months, probably less.

People who whine because they are weak and cant organise a significant force to attack the people they dont like and simply try to get CCP to do their work for them.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

odd that the ccp devs have been very quite with regards to the issues that have been adressed in this thread .

Really?

A lack of direction for the game,

For me make it all 0.0 sec, do away with high sec, warp to zero, local, make all station destructible etc , make EVE as it was intended to be.

This would lose subs, how many, who knows

Or split it into 2 worlds/universes Hi and low/0.0 sec, high sec for people who want to play safe, no shooting each other allowed at all, mine to your hearts content or whatever.

This would gain subs , probably a lot, but is against everything EVE stands for.

The Devs i am sure want to do the first option, but realize they would quite possibly be doing their little HTFU song and dance routine outside an Icelandic Job center for coins to feed there family after subs drop.

So here they sit, trying to balance on a knifes edge, doing practically nothing to develop the game, and it is withering, slowly, oh so slowly.

Yet another person who believes highsec is a realm of players who love ponies and hello kitty... believing that highsec is the whole problem, get rid of it and everything would be as he wants... yes.. why not just make it like every other mmo... make it battlefield space 1942 where as soon as you pick your system you are fighting immediately... BORING... highsec is not just full of miners or goats as u call them.. tied to the stake.. go play half life

The thing that would really help in the starter systems is a better tutorial. New players need to have a mandatory tut on can pvp/baiting so that they know what the deal is from the beginning- then the GM'S won't be bogged down by so many can baiting harassment petitions. I think it would be very cool to have noobs start in their captains quarters, sitting down and watching a quick tutorial on it on their big screen.

The idea that there's "one thing" that's really hurting EVE, and that if that mythical "one thing" were fixed, everything would be better.

Local, structure mails and the directional scanner.

What ? dscan is the *only* thing which provides *some* kind of chance to get any pve done in low/00 and especially wh without alts and/or other caretakers. If anything, probing is too easy ;) They could upgrade dscan to be more passive though.

But... local should just GTFO !
