A couple of patches into the new shiny inventory system, i still need to plan ahead as to when i click on "stack all" or move a lil bit of stuff around - preferably when i don't need to do anything else within the next 2 minutes.

Why is that ? Is this some kind of minigame ? Can you fix it ? I'm running out of tea ...

Two things need to be fixed:

- option for automatic stacking items
- bug with locked items when you move them into container that have checked unlocked in options

1 thing needs to be fixed: the algorithm responsible for refreshing inventory widgets.

Anything else are just features you do on top of a working system.

Edit: But i agree ... automatic stacking would be awesome ofc.

Thanks. Interesting. It's just that i cannot understand how such things end up on a live server in the first place. And why it sticks around that long ... It's not that it needs 100001 items, 3 ships with one of them being an echelon and snowy weather outside to reproduce ...

Was obviously pushed through release well knowing of the performance issues.
I mean come on, you've MUST have had some kind of idea of how bad the performance of the inventory was or else you really need to be adding a lot more dev hours into proper testing.

I agree. This new Inventory system is terrible. How did CCP manage to implement this change without CSM or testers complaining?

It is an absolute frakking useless mess.

Before Inferno, one used to be able to open many hangars and containers onscreen at the same time, even containers inside industrials, in ships that were not active, so as to easily move things across. Now you cannot.

Now, the 'SHIFT Click to open in new window' only works for the major sections down the left pane in the Inventory view. Containers inside an Orca or other industrial that is not your active ship, do not open. You have either drag all containers out of industrial and into the Item Hangar, or make the ship active.

Right click on a container in an Industrial and the option to 'open in new window' is available, but when you click that, it opens a new window showing the cargohold of your active ship!

I cringe to think what of fun I am going to have with my Orca at the POS, when trying to move stuff around.

I cannot see how this change to the functionality and operation of hangars and cargoholds is an improvement over what it was before Inferno. This simply defies logic.

The OP's theory that CCP has dumbed down the Inventory system to suit a console game is the only suggestion that makes logical sense, as far fetched as it may sound, but what more logical reason is there?

There's good and bad. For example, opening loot containers and having them all sit in the tree view rather than having to dock them, then clicking "loot all" is really useful. Shift-clicking opens a new window of course. Then moving stuff around corp hangers, into/out of ships and containers is actually easier. The load time problem is an issue though.

Overall I think it's better than the previous window based randomness, once you get used to it.

It's slow as hell but really annoying is the unresponsiveness of the UI it creates when shiny activity indicators are shown.

Then shift clicking things and the sidebar being hidden after doing that. Shift clicking at all is not a feature it's a show stopper. The inventory got in the way of doing item related stuff more than it helps.

Odyssey: Repacking in POS hangars for modules +1,  but please for other stuff too, especially containers. Make containers openable in POS hangars.

And to make matters worse, you click on a wreck to open cargo , and you get the whole frigging Inventory UI, not a neat little square box which remembers your last size and position. Then you get a tree structure of open wrecks down the left pane. It is not user friendly or intuitive at all.

Also, when docking, or jumping through stargates in an Orca with the Inventory window open, your inventory takes ages to reload. This is pathetic. I have never been so disgusted with a patch change as this one...

Better than previous? you gotta be joking.
