Marketing. You need to be able to get the word out. The only problem is the more people involved the less you are able to pay out in prizes. Maybe charge an entry fee and pay winnings out of the pot. Just thinking out loud here.

The bulk of your gankers can't stomach fights - why do you think they join up with the other efforts? So you want to pick fights with ships that have weapons, tank and actually shoot other things? ...

Let's see - if I recall correctly, around the time of the first hulkageddon an anti-L4 mission runners geddon was tried. It didn't go over well. Something about 4:1 and more ratios while getting lossmails had participation much lower than shooting ships that don't generate lossmails nor shoot back, especially when you fail the gank - which is not uncommon.

You see the bulk of them can't handle published lossmails and that doesn't show with things like industrials, noctis and the bulk of your mining ships. As such, this will flop -- maybe if you did a "shuttles" geddon. They don't have guns so you should be able to attract more participants.

Good luck with your effort but honestly, I do not see this panning out. It takes too many willing to actually fight to do this stuff and your geddon types don't have that in them -- or they'd be off actually fighting others somewhere.

This should prove interesting. I'm really curious to see if there are going to be a lot of people bothering to probe or not and whether the mission runners are going to dock up or shoot back.

As for not being profitable, lets just say I have seen kills where there was immense profit while using the same cheap ships used during hulkageddon.

Almost makes me want to break out the old Fleet Tempest and run a few missions to see what happens.

When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life.

The competition will open on June 5, 2012 EST.
Read on for competition rules


  1. All destroyed PVE ships must be destroyed in hi security space (0.5 sec status or higher)
  2. Vanilla EVE-Kill will be used to evaluate the market value of a ship at the end of the competition.
  3. To be considered, you must send an EVE-Mail of your successful gank to masternerdguy. Please include a killboard link using EVE-Kill in said mail.
  4. Only API verified kills will be counted, API verified by vanilla EVE-Kill.
  5. Only Marauder, Faction Battleship, and Strategic Cruiser kills will be counted in this competition.
  6. The guy you ganked cannot carry any warp disruptors or warp scramblers. If they carry one, they are not a hi sec PVE ship anymore****


As an additional bonus the guy who loses the most expensive mission boat because of this competition will receive a free consolation prize.

Fly safe.

****If they have taken rat damage, and it is on their killmail, this rule can be ignored. Take that, mission farmers who know how to adapt!

Could do with a more original name too I think.
The prizes don't even need to be huge since killing the ships listed here typically yields more loot than the average hulk gank by an order of magnitude or two, but a few more 'achievements' would be nice.

Just gank everything in highsec.
Gank Jita and try to lag it so bad the servers crash and catch fire.
Each type of ship has a point value.

Nothing like a sandbox MMO to for players to be forced into playing the way others want.

So tell me, when the new players have had enough of being bullied and leave Eve and new players stop joining due to what they hear and read about Eve. What will you all do?

For Eve to exist it needs real income. Lack of new players plus raising cost of living an hardware upgrades and repair amongst other things and Eve does start to stumble and go where it does not want to go.

Haters will hate and gankers will gank.

They gotta get ppl working for the company first but Im thinking its cause itll be a beta. They get to learn the exploits early on and hope they make it in the game
