There are three main criteria when it comes to JFs:
1. Capacity
2. Fuel Cost
3. Agility (for when you do have to fly gate to gate)
4. Your skills

If 4 doesn't matter, then you pick the best combination of the other three for your tastes.

Rhea has the largest cargo capacity (by about 15,000 m3 more than the Anshar)

Anshar has the greatest EHP (by about 12,000 more than the Ark)

Nomad is the fastest and uses the least fuel (200 (base) isotopes less than the Ark)

Ark is thus somewhere in the middle in terms of EHP, cargo, fuel use, and speed.

For me, none of these differences justified retraining an industrial skill since I already had Gallente Industrial 5 (for the Iteron mark V). Thus, I would recommend simply using the one you're closest to.

Edit: Also, the Rhea is the slowest and uses the most fuel. Keep that in mind if it's large cargobay seems appealing.

They are all really very close to the same so pick the one that looks the ugliest to you. That way when your eventual and inevitable **** up that causes it to be blown into a million pieces comes along your crushing loss will be cushioned by the thought that it was always an eyesore anyway.

Same reason I got a Navy Scorpion over the CNR... Then those bastards ruined it in Tyrannis.

The Rhea is the only JF with enough cargo space to hold 3x General Shipping Containers. Since a lot of courier contracts are made by filling one of these containers up and contracting it, the extra cargo space of a Rhea is occassionally advantageous.

However, to get this advantage, you need LvL 5 Freighter skills, which is a PITA to get... unless hauling is your profession and something you really enjoy doing.

On those rare occasions when agility matters, you'll be glad you had the more agile ship.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Oh, in terms of agility, your cyno ship should be fit with webs anyway. Frankly, if your frieghter isn't in warp by the time any pirates in system know the cyno has even been lit, you're doing it wrong Big smile

I am just about to qualify for a JF. It is my skill queue atm.

I chose the Gallente line because:
A. The Iteron V is a huge T1 hauler
B. The Viator can haul over 10,000 meters cubed. This is important as covert haulers go.
C. My alts can fly the Viator too, so I can share ships.

Not sure if I will even buy a JF, I do however use covert haulers on a regular basis.

Nomad looks the coolest imo Cool
