Help with PI Factories

Let me start off and ask is there a way to stop/start basic/adv factories?
the reason i ask it seems like the adv factories seems to be getting like 50% of 1 input and 100% from another or the basic factory is missing or seems to be missing the cycle of what it needs to input in the adv factory so to me it looks like the adv factory has to run in a 2hr cycle to get the materials it need to produce? If there is no way to stop the adv factory to reset the time to catch everything or do i have to delete it and rebuild a new one? Any help is appreciated.....thank you

you should be able to sync them deleting routes to the BIF/AIF and wait for the cycles to end (1 hr at max) then they should stop and you can create the "new routes" having them working.... as intended. Of course the "submit" button must be clicked only once.
no idea if there's a smarter way to do that but I'd like to know it.

Perhaps I misunderstand, but it sounds like you have a buffering issue. This happens when you route the output from an extractor or factory straight to a factory. This is not recommended.

I always route output from an extractor or factory to a launchpad (usually) or a storage facility (rarely used). Then the next factory up the chain gets its raw materials from the launchpad or storage facility (the buffering building). That allows the lower level factory or extractor to run at full capacity, without having to wait until the higher level factory cycles, and the higher level factory always grabs a full load of raw materials when it cycles.

Did you check all your routes in the routes menu to make sure all the incoming and outgoing match up? The factory should have 2 incoming from the launchpad and 1 outgoing to the launchpad.

Also make sure you don't have any overloaded links. Roll over a facility and all the links connected to it will show the percentage.

I hope that was the answer you were looking for.

You're doing it the hard way. Don't route directly from the extractor to the factory. Think of the Launchpad as the center of everything. Route from the extractors to the Launchpad. Route from the Launchpad to the Factories. Route the L1 good back to the Launchpad. Route the L1 goods from the Launchpad to the Advanced Factories.

This way you don't have to be worry about cycle times and all that. The Launchpad will buffer everything and make it much, much easier.

Precisely this. Never output your goods to anything other than a launchpad or storage unit, but 90% of the time you can use a launchpad as your storage unit and save yourself the power/cpu.

It also helps you diagnose problems in your production chain by seeing what goods are starting to build up.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

guess the problem exposed here is referring to the precise setup you're suggesting: everything to and from the launchpad. But it may happen to see 1 of your AIF not having supplies, and it happens always (as far as I've seen) when the cycles are not perfectly sync'd. I personally let the BIF's poduce some stuff, then when I have like 100-200 of the P1 needed by the AIF, I create the routes (outgoing from the launchpad, ingoing to the AIF) so as to have some buffer in the launchpad.
I tried to understand why it happens, but I already burned too many brain cells to setup my production chains to get deeper in these PI mechanics. This way it works, enough for me :)

thank you all for ur post it makes sense to me now that I use the LP as the buffer for the adv factory so now its gets 100% of mats to make the finished products..
