tier 3 ships setting up cargo containers labeled as "free ammo", and they literally wait there for hours waiting for a noob to 1-shot. whats the point of that? also, i didn't fall for that free ammo, i just observed it.

As long as they don't do it in starter systems then it is legal.

As long as it isn't done in Rookie systems it is perfectly legal.

Say what?

The reason why is simply that some people will just as soon spit/punch you in the face as shake your hand (ie. socio-paths) .. since Eve provides them with an outlet that doesn't get them committed for psych evaluation those "special" (said with a lisp) kind of people naturally gravitate towards it, yielding the well above average percentage of straight-jacket ready individuals.

Soooo...you were observing them for hours? What was the point of that? Or are you just making it up ( the 'hours' thing )?

As for your question. It is quite simple really - some EvE players are just idiots ( we have plenty of those FYI ). Nothing to be concerned with. Move along, mind your own business and for God's sake try NOT to be one of themBlink

The thing is their is no wrong way to play EVE except for CCP banable game play.
Why would someone do that for hours? No idea. But they must think it is fun otherwise they would not do it.
Playing this game you get to see the full range of what people think is fun. Many times it will leave you scratching your head in wonder.

It is good to hear that some one is still teaching people about how EVE mechanics works in reality.

What could be greater gift than finding player who is using several hours to seek people who need help on game mechanics.

There's a big fat warning of "Hey, if you take from this can, people can shoot you for it" every time you do that. If you're surprised when you get shot for doing something you KNEW could get you shot, I have no sympathy for you.

It is pretty bad.

And I like how people defend it saying, "it's legal." well yes, but being a d-bag is still being a d-bag even if it's allowed.

And being a jerk on the internet because your a loser in real life and want to grief others to make yourself feel better still makes you pathetic.

I've seen people camp a gate for days on and off :D

What I think it intresting is how the conversations with their friends outside the game go.

"What you up to man?" -- "Camping a gate in Eve"

Then hours later "Hey dude, im back, what you up to?" -- "Still camping that gate...I killed an autopiloting-frigate though!"

Then again I have friends who think I'm sad for roaming around for about an hour without finding any fights lol. Guess it's all a matter of opinion.

Stalker!

I have to say. If there was a big van on the side of the road with "Free Candy" written on the side. I'd expect if you opened the door and took some candy, you'd get ganked too. Yet another reason why Eve is real.

What's not legal is taking stuff out of yellow cans. Which is why Concord warns you that they won't protect you from the can's owner(s) if you do so. (I should note, I don't camp stations with cans in front of them hoping for easy kills. I prefer to hunt my prey.

I think it is lame but live and let live.

I think self-righteous people are bigger d-bags.
