High Sec Stealth Bomber

Hoy,

So I was wondering, is it worth the investment at all to get a stealth bomber for high sec wars? Seems kind of pointless to fly one without being able to use its signature bombs, but would get you a very mobile platform for chasing down lone enemy BCs and BS.

In highsec they end up being cheap support DPS for hitting BSes and such. They're paper-tanks (even a MSE only does so much), but they're cheaper than a BS and still have some decent DPS. They're not great, but they do work for certain things if your fleet is set up right.

Honestly, without being able to launch bombs the use of bombers is pretty much limited, add to that the very limited type of targets you can attack and the fact that most fights will happen at gates or stations and generally it just doesn't make sense to use bombers in high sec. Would you have a nice gang with 1-2 falcons, rapier and stuff like that then bombers can provide the necessary dps.

Generally in high sec you'll run into drakes and there's no chance in hell you'll dps him down before his HMLs **** you sideways. don't believe people who tell you a solo bomber "works great" against BCs and BSes, they don't. Only against afk/idiots and in specific scenarios. So again, unless you have a cloaky fleet with a good strategy and against mediocre targets, don't bother.

It works as fast dps on tackled targets. Fly with frig tacklers, get the kill, and be gone before help arrive. It doesn't require cloaky fleet or any special strategy.

Btw, it works well on lone, locked down drakes. The way they're fit, they have large sigs for BCs, and the missiles do little dmg to frigs. The sb can always bail long before popping.

The whole point of frig pack is to not be in a "fair" fight with "fair" numbers. The only way to get any dps on frig pack is with sbs.

I'd go so far as to say that the Bombs are just a "nice feature" of Stealth Bombers and that Torpedoes is where it is at, really.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

Here's my take on it. The bomber is an excellent fleet ship if its properly supported or you're going after big targets. If you've got a solid fast tackler, some ewar and main bread and butter ships THEN you can bring a bomber.

The weaknesses are simple: they're made of paper, are expensive and should warp out if targeted, meaning a terrible choice to tank/hold point with. To properly apply their dps they need a large target or a target with several painters already on it. Their locking time isn't amazing either so for getting that initial point isn't going to happen often against small ships. In cloaky fleets they're the main dps though, but to make a cloaky fleet work you need a falcon or two (to provide the tank), a rapier/arazu for point/webs.

Ask your gang's FC or resident smart guy what the fleet actually needs.

Their time from you not even knowing they are there to have you locked up and pointed is best in game.

Bombers are one of the ships where the potential is 95% in the skills of the pilot. They have a few attributes that, used right is awesome.

One bomber in the hands of a bad pilot is a joke. One bomber in the hands of a skilled pilot can be a extremely valuable tool in a high sec war.

A gang of bombers in the hands of skilled and experienced pilots are not to be taken lightly.

Tip: A bomber w/o a bomb-launcher can fit a probe-launcher instead. The things you can do with that is pure magic.

You can get 6-700 DPS from an SB, but like others said they are very squishy.
