I stayed outta most of the rage that happened on the forums and in-game when that stuff all kicked off a few months back, but I was disheartened and upset thinking "****, it's SOE doing the NGE to SWG, but all over again."

But, getting a post that's as long as it was and as humble as it was, goes a long, LONG way in my books. Sure it shouldn't have happened in the first place, but you'll always have lovers' tiffs in MMOs and the Internet in general when it's something loved by a lot of people.

All I ask from CCP in the future is remember, you may design the game, but it's us the players that make it. 90% of the time, we cry, we moan and we complain because we can....But remove that 90% of shite and you're left with 10% of genuinely good ideas for the game.

Don't forget about us again CCP.

This must have been difficult to write. Respect.

But, as you say, we will be watching what you do, not just what you say.

This is a strong show of character being able to admit fault and then have the strength to refocus. I still feel that Eve is the strongest MMO on the market. IMO this refocus is good your honesty and candor in your blog was nice and refreshing. So many corporations get so big and self involved that they lose focus with what got them to that point. I applaud the blog and its tone and wait with eager anticipation on all of what Eve can be.

♥ Manny

Edit*

Hilmar - Just a suggestion take a day a month and go play Eve. Get yourself into a corporation and get some boots on the ground and get some personal perspective on the game again. IMO this will be good for you and good for CCP. The head cheese cannot have a total disconnect or situations that you are now working hard to overcome might happen again.

Good words, but still just words. I'm more hopeful for EVE than I have been for awhile. Follow this up with actions and I'll be able to recommend EVE/other CCP games to friends again.

Thats not at the blog, it's at CCP in general.

i love it to see that CCP as a whole has understood whats actually wrong, AND that they AS A COMPANY have realised that they have to do something about it.

Getting high professionals into managament positions, refocusing, putting cards on the table and writing such a blog which is basically telling "we ****** up, we are really sorry, we will do better"

you guys have got GIANT kudos!

i got some kind of respect back for CCP....

After reading it once more, I will not be original, I guess.

I watch what you do, not what you say, blah blah. Seriously.

But with way less pun intended than a day before.

Thank you, again.

No pay to win <-- this is ultimately critical.

For a company CEO to be apologising, it's just not something one sees as often as it should be happening around the world.

Well done Sir, stay the course.

This is something I don't think any Blizz subscriber will ever see. It also strengthens my passion for EVE over all others. As players we all have had our moments of putting CCP on blast but you guys most be doing something right if we keep comming back for more. I for one will continue to have my bank account struck perfectly every 3 months until the end of time..or the server shuts down.

This blog post reminded me of the recent apology from "Netflix"

But seriously, as a almost year old player, I am very excited to see these changes. I have learned a lot about what has changed from the past and have seen what changes are needed in this game, and it is very encouraging to seeing the top brass talk about the mistakes made and how he plans on going about fixing them. Thank you for the letter.

Dear Hilmar,

Having a lot of experience with humbling situations in my life, I've got to say before I say anything else that I respect the courage, honour and humility it must have taken for you to write this apology. To err is commonplace, but to apologise for it is a sadly rare sign of human virtue in this day and age. It is redundant to say that my faith in CCP is no longer unshakeable, but your apology is something I wouldn't expect from the CEO of bigger games companies like Activision, EA, Sony Online or Blizzard. Admitting fault and apologising for it is a good thing.

I know you're a CEO, and you're talking to customers in the manner of a CEO, but you're actually talking to us - again, not something I'd expect from more mainstream games companies. You have not fully restored my faith in CCP - as you have said, I'll be watching your actions more than your words. With the utmost respect, CCP has a history of apologising for things, fixing minor issues and calling it a day. For this to be a true turning point, CCP must truly change within and without - if you truly wish to convince us that CCP can deliver on the promise of EVE Online, you must commit to it one hundred and ten percent.

We need to see the radical changes we've been promised - regular iteration on older content, player issues addressed in weeks rather than months, constant interaction and dialogue with the playerbase. Reform and revitalise. Listen to player input at every turn. Test every feature you want to roll out on Singularity weeks in advance and listen to the testers.

Every time I try to leave this game, it pulls me back in somehow. I have never given up on the dream of EVE Online. I have never given up on the endless promise of tomorrow and the grand adventure of the far reaches of space.

I'm going to give you my cautious trust, CCP, one last time. Take me places I've never seen before and show me a world where impossible is a dirty word.

Hate to admit it but this post did a lot for me personally as a long time vet of EVE.

I am glad that CCP has not waited till it was too late to re-evaluate their approach to EVE, but more importantly, it is good to finally hear the perspective from the boss himself.

I fell in love with EVE many years ago and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

Words cannot describe my feelings when I was reading over the draft yesterday. I might have shed a manly tear.
Nothing I post here will do Dear Leader or my own feelings on the subject any justice.
But I'm looking forward to the future now.
It is clear that owe Dear Leader a great big hug.
But he somewhat scares me whenever I stand next to him.
Dear Leader is huge and intimidating like that. Blink

Interesting times ahead! Time to live up to Dear Leaders example.

Thank you.
Bittervetness decreasing.
Hope for EVE & CCP returning.

(I just hope I'm not putting myself up for another disappointment.)
