Whenever I search for caldari pvp people are always saying that Caldari suck for pvp, however these threads are all a few years old. Do Caldari missile ships still suck for pvp?

Missiles suck for a pure PvP character. If you are going to PvE and PvP then missiles are passable. Go with minmatar ships and projectiles for a pure PvP character. They dont call them winmatar for no reason.

Well, not Caldari so much. You see back in the day, as I understand it, you could only fly your race specific ships with Caldari being missile oriented. However now you can fly any ship with no racial restrictions. But to the point of missiles suck at pvp: No, the key to any pvp in any game I think is to play to your strengths while not letting your opponent play to thier strengths, I know, kind of cheesy advice like the market advice of buy low sell high. Take a look at this post for a healthy discussion around missiles with pvp. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1157916#post1157916

There was never a time when characters were limited to their racial ships.

There are plenty of Caldari ships that are great for PvP; most of them are turret ships though.

Posting on this character because apparently some people get upset when they're asked difficult questions. M.

My man, any ship is what you make of it. There is no real "I win button" in Eve. The Drake is a great ship for pvp, whether it be in small gang. solo, or fleet warfare. I've seen a Drake with double webs, drones, and HAM missiles kill a 10 man frigate fleet solo.

As far as battleships, Rokhs are really popular right now and Scorpions are always ridiculously useful for pvp. Read a little bit about good fits, watch some videos, and most of all get some experience. You will soon learn that any race's ships can be viable.

Hmz, most alliance use:

- Drake
- Drake
- Drake
- Basilisk
- Drake
- Flycatchers
- Falcon
- Drake
- Drake

So, Caldari must suck for PvP.

Like Dervinus said, ANY ship is what you make of it. Any ship in EVE has it's advantages and disadvantages. It's knowing them and make use of both (use the advantages to your good, know when to GTFO, etc.)

No race of ships actually suck at pvp. The question is gonna be the type of pvp, and fleet comps that are called.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Merlins are OP atm, Harpy is awesome, Moa will probably be buffed just like they did with the Merlin, Drake is great, Falcon and Basilisk are great, Onyx is a good HIC. The only problem caldari really has is pvp focussed battleships and even that is turning around with Rokh fleets flying left&right in 0.0

Caldari isn't the best for various reasons but they don't "suck" at all, they have their pros and cons and can do just fine. The myth about caldari being crap at PVP comes mostly from the majority of Caldari pilots, not their ships. Most people pick Caldari because it's the "PVE race" (which is also nonsense), PVErs generally aren't good at PVP and when they get into a fight they'll lose because of lack of experience and effort, not because they chose to fly Caldari.

Caldari is awesome for PVP - they were the first race I crosstrained and for exactly that reason. However, Caldari has few good solo ships. Most Caldari ships, however, are rather awesome in a gang setting.

Nope, Drakes are awesome ships and are used in many different fleets. Merlin frigates are awesome entry level PvP ships, especially now that Inferno has been released from what I hear.

I hate drakes but I'm doomed to fly one for now lol. Caldari ships are fine, you just gotta know how to fly them ... if not just fit a HML drake and snipe lol.

In all technicality each race of ships Sucks at some kind of PVP.

For instance a legion cant do what a tengu can do in pvp and vice versa.

Its far less about the racial ship type and much more about how and when you use it.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

In general, many caldari pilots are looked down on, becuase the most prevalent ship in the game, the drake, typically requires very little Player skill to use in PvP.

Ships like the Griffin, Merlin, Hawk, Harpy, Blackbird, Tengu, Rook, Falcon, Onyx, Drake, and Scorp all see regular use in PvP. Some of these ships really excel, some of these ships annoy the ever-livin-**** out of your enemy, some of these ships require a lot of skill to use appropriate, some of them are viewed as one-trick ponies.

I'm not saying the other caldari ships aren't viable, I'm just showing the more common PvP caldari ships out there.... and most of them use missiles effectively!!

Caldari can't PvP, they're NPCs. If you're shooting at Caldari then that's PvE.

... seriously, though, no, the ships are fine for PvP. Same answer as in the "do missiles suck" thread. Six months ago I would have said you'd be better off training something else because half the ships are crippled by dependence on hybird turrets, but with the latest fix both blasters and railguns are balanced quite well so all of Caldari is now usable.

If you are a fan of shield tanking and tank-heavy engagement, especially, go with Caldari. Minmatar _can_ shield tank, but their racial meta-strategy is more about getting in and out before they die rather than turning broadsides and volleying until someone breaks.
