Is 21-day trial advertising allowed in newbie zones?

Hi, I'm a fairly new player myself, about 1.5 months old. I was thinking of ways to get some ISK and came up with an idea (although I'm sure pretty much everyone and their mother could have thought about this).

The idea is to advertise 21-day trials in the newbie starting areas and select the PLEX reward. The plan is to promise the new blood a share of the PLEX that I will sell (something around 50 or 100 mil ISK) so that he can have a quick influx of cash, helping him out for a while and a 21-day trial which is in all the ways better than a 14-day one. I know I would have loved to benefit from something like this back when I started and would have gladly thrown away a 3-4 days old character for this.

It seems like such a simple idea to get some cash once a month (or more, depending on how many accounts you own) and I am suprised that, during my time spent in EVE so far, I have not seen anyone doing this. It also opens up oportunities to meet new people and make friends and such. Is there any reason no one seems to do this? Is it against the EULA?

I don't plan to start off on a wrong foot with this so this is why I wanted to ask first and make sure.

there's an ad thread stickied around here somewhere ...

It *shouldn't* be against the rules (provided _you_ don't actually scam anyone) -- petition might be the best way to get a GM answer.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I do not intend to scam anyone. I will follow your advice and submit a petition. Thanks

well, you're playing EVE wrong then Blink (within the confines of the game)

In case someone reading doesn't get it.

1. scamming anyone for anything in-game is 100% valid/legal/supported/approved/encouraged
2. scamming someone in anything regarding subs is generally dealt with harshly. Depending on the GM, they'll either tell the unwary newbie "Welcome to EvE, HTFU" for getting scammed on the "promise" of 50m ISK for taking a buddy invite; or they'll deal with the scammer in rather unpleasant ways (temp ban, taking ISK/PLEX, stuff like that).

As already said, scamming new players for ISK, using the buddy system is not allowed, but I'm sure you have good intentions :)

In regards to advertising, you are not allowed to advertise it anywhere on the forum, but this thread

The ingame help channels are also off-limits for obvious reasons.

Apart from that you are free to advertise, assuming you are not excessivly spamming people in a degree that resembles harassment.

Let me rephrase that: I do not intend to scam anyone using this method Big smile

Thank you Velicitia and Etetia for your feedback on this. Much appreciated.

Before promising anyone ISK, check first if you are able to select PLEX as reward for buddy program. New accounts can only select "30 days gametime" as reward.

The first buddy program reward is a 30 day free. Just use it on an alt email or something.
I think thats a good idea especially if you have a link un your bio to the buddy program thread. Don't be dishearten if people will still call it a scam even if its legit, that is the nature of eve

Reward options depends on e.g. how old account is. You can also choose PLEX as first reward if account is old enough.

Scamming with the buddy promised payout thingy is actually prohibited on these forums, so it might also not be allowed in game.

I just want to ask something for clarification:
If you have a new account, your first invite always yields you 30 days of game time. You can't choose PLEX.
But can you choose it on the second invite?

If account is old enough, you can choose PLEX as reward for first invite. (I don't know how much is "old enough").

I have never invited anyone on really new account, so I don't have personal experience on whether 2nd invite would allways allow PLEX as reward or not. I would guess that this is not true and you might not be able to choose PLEX even after first invite.

Exact rules of which accounts can choose PLEX have not been told by CCP. It might not depend just on account age, but can also take into consideration other things like login count. (see buddy invite rules, 2nd last point)

Ah, does not work with CD keys anyway. Kinda makes the whole thing void for me then.
