This game will never be #1 for the simple fact that space isn't breathtakingly pretty and doesn't have Tauren Druids.

But space is breathtakingly pretty.

The Tauren Druid thing is a problem, but we could get around that if CCP allowed people to deploy exotic dancers to their Captain's Quarters.

That's why I like space so much, I wish I had the kind of telescopes the pros use to show some really breathtaking photos. But for the most part its dark with a bunch of brown rocks...hard to compete with majestic landscape candy. I think EvE would be more interesting if we could have fights inside nebulae, ala Warath of Khan.

So close...

It would definitely be nice to see some of the crazy cloud effects that are present in missions floating about in regular space. EG, at belts/gates/planets and such.

I'd like to see it, but then I remember how annoying it is to actually be inside one, not being able to see stuff is cool, but the clipping issues arent' wroth it. Jumpgate Evo had some really good looking backdrops and "terrain" that I'd love ot see CCP mimic someday, since JGE will never see the light of day.

Ever been in a gas mining site?

Or that one mission with the green vortexes?

Hell, check this out. Space tourism is a thing, yo.

I'm going to spend sometime looking at those, they are beautiful in their own way. Here's the JGE stuff I'm talking about, they took the opposite approach, instead of overly brown gritty realistic tones they went for bright and colorful. clicky!

My personal favorite is the space monolith. Make sure you check the info, they all have great descriptions one way or another. Bear

Hehe, I knew that. I've been looking half-heartedly into astrophotography lately (some very pricey stuff on the high end) and one of the ways to get color in pictures is to take several long exposures of the same subject in different light filters then take the images and layer them to get its "true color". The cost and the extreme difficulty have deterred me for now. Lol

It would definitely be a fascinating field to get in to if you had the money, though it does seem a tad complicated lol. But some of those nebulae images are amazing, far better than the nonsense modern 'artists' seem to come up with nowadays.

If everyone played Eve the server would melt. I personally think there's a few too many playing right now. Thankfully my noble space guild seems to be whittling down some folks who would be much better off playing Minecraft or Mabinogi. If we could get it to the point where we don't need TiDi it would be perfect!

There was a time when Eve Space used to have 'Landmark' type areas located near various planets and Jumpgates in different systems. These areas would have different scenes like Debris, an Abandoned Station or a lonely Asteroid, etc. Along with various other strange stuff like this and that or something else.

I remember actively searching for those and making notes, was a lot of work warping to each planet and I found quite a bit, especially en-route to the Eve Gate. This was before the Graphics overhaul, before Nebula, before PI, etc. I believe the removal of Deep Space Bookmarks actually condensed solar systems and with CCP upgrading Planet graphics, basically deleted a lot of those 'Tourist Sites'.

Cosmos Agent Locations and Missions used to have a lot of excellent Eye Candy (Spatial Rift to Aether Drone Queen). I think these are some of the more awe inspiring visually entertaining graphics within Eve :

Guild Wars

Lord Manel's Mansion and another view

Asteroid Station and a closer view

Lord Bastion

The Hyperbole Nexus

Serpentis Science Lab

Red Rock Outpost

There was even more scenes like these at various Cosmos Agent and Mission locations. Even the basic ones like The Prophet's Spa, Manor House, No Excuse and Crystal Boulevard are still cool.

Don't get me wrong, the new updated graphics is definitely stunning and awe inspiring. Especially when viewing things like the Amarr Cathedral of Oceans and getting to sneak a peek at it's interior.

I think CCP needs to create more areas like that within the Eve Universe and include various shots of those in the trailers they create.

EDIT :
I forgot to quote the statements that encouraged me to post this.

It's good to see a sense of irony is alive and kicking in Eve. /more irony!

Goons that want to drive carebears out of the games don't get that. Carebears that want Goons banned by CCP don't get it.

What they don't get is that Eve is a sand box, and in a sand box people get to play their own game.

That includes RP freaks like DeMichael Crimson. /more irony!

That would be a game without industry (and thus ships), without large scale player-organized events, and without forum trolls or easy marks. It would be entirely populated by people like you. In fact, it would probably be entirely populated by you.
