Ship Customisation and Conclusion Jumping Confirmed

Good on you CCP! Ship Customisation is something people have been asking for for a long time, and I can't wait for the first iteration with customisable corp logos nor the future iterations with decals and paint.

I do hope that it isn't restricted to the Nex Store and that multiple pricing tiers and purchasing options are made available along with other ways of getting said designs (whether you are getting a complete design or have to purchase/manufacture/find components) like Loot Drops, LP Store Purchases, Live Event Prizes. Design availability restricted to space security level, player sp amount, security level (for police issue designs), term spent in a Militia or NPC corp are all other possibilities for spicing it up - as are options for trademarking specific colours with upkeep costs for corp/ alliance and player manufacturer lines. Not to mention controlled design rarities with limits to the total amount of a certain design being available at any one time... so many options and oppurtunities for new player professions it would be criminal to restrict this feature to the Nex Store.For all those dreaming of painting penii on your ships I highly doubt there will not be restricted colour palettes but we shall see! and soon I hope :3

Thanks to Trebor from the CSM for sharing with those who don't keep an eye on the client files and don't believe! Hopefully they will share more details soon (tm)

Keep it up CCP and know it won't take people long to get over the fact they can't design a hello kitty scorpion.

Theres a whole heap of new and old racial manufacturers V3'd already in the client files (albiet not all visable in game yet) and CCP has created and is implimenting a more efficient file format (.black) and system for handling unique ship setups.

I doubt CCP would destroy their own creative vision by allowing unrestricted colour pallettes, it just wouldn't make sense.

Can we not just have ship skins as a BPO that we can purchase, make and then fit into a ship like a module which changes the skin? Even if we have to get this BPO via Nex.

It seems ******** to have to use Aurum to buy a skin and then get it blown up in 5 minutes to have to use Aurum again to buy it. So destructible yes, but not so that you gotta spend RL monies on it every frickin time you do so. Otherwise it will flop badly.

If it is in any way connected to the Nex store then I won't even consider using a custom ship skin, should they ever be implemented that is. I never intend to buy anything from the Nex so anything they put in there may as well not exist for me.

I think it probably will be, that's partly the point of the NEX store. If not then excellent it should come from LP store or it should be just a purchasable BPO or something. But I assumed NEX would be the faucet.

Jumping to conclusions is the quickest way to disappointment, especially where CCP is involved. Remember the fantastic uber-amazing CQ-------oh that's right, it was only the Minmatar one or a rusty door to stare at.

How quickly we forget.


Trebor only says this : "ship appearance customization".

Nothing specific about either logos, paint, or 'decals'.

I'm just sayin'.

We already know ship logo customisation is in developement if not finished and you just need to look in the client files to get a pretty good picture of what is happening.

Regarding Aurum purchases, why would it be that simple? There should be multiple levels of pricing, availability, purchasing and ways of recieving them. LPs (Navy ships anyone), Mission rewards, Aurum/ Isk purchases, Plex Upkeeps for trademarkable Corp or Player Manufacturer designs, from Live Events... the options are endless. If its all from the Nex store I will eat my gfs pants, or I would if I didn't chew on them already.

True. Just reminding people we have indeed been disappointed in the past.

Plus it's just plain wrong to annouunce anything of this sort with certainty until more is known.
