[proposal] Last will and testament

You know how in real life people have wills, where they declare where their belongings will go once they die.

I propose there is a button that will quickly and easily make your will valid, kind of like a one click giveaway, in addition if you are inactive over 2-8 months, your stuff and perhaps even your character will be up for grabs to whoever is in your will. For example I would personally love the chance to donate my character to CCP, maybe they can auction it to some other player somehow.

It's just that lately I have been so busy in real life, and it got me thinking that if I were to suddenly quit the game, the reason for it would most probably be such that I wouldnt even bother to make time to hand out the wealth that i've accumulated (however small), or to even auction my character because those things take time and energy, and alot of the time once real life calls it takes all of your attention.

generally i see your name adn think "trash post, not worth reading"

but this time it LOOKED like you may have had something interesting... theres where i made my first mistake.

all in all, this si kinda pointless, since i have some friends who had to temporarily cancel their accounts due to going to iraq or korea on assignment, are you saying that these guys should lose all their stuff simply because they are being tasked by their RL government to go sit in a whole in some faroff country with no access to the internet?

Well if you truly like the idea, then the easy solution to this problem would be to not sign up for a will. Many people simply dont write up a last will, it is a choice. I know that there are many greedy rich people who will rather die with their wealth than to share it with the world.

This won't happen. It would remove incentive for those people to eventually resubscribe, thus costing CCP money.

if you put it like that, then i wholeheartedly agree, as long as its optional, i know I for one will use my isk to build a giant catacomb with indiana jones level deathtraps and put all my assets at the bottom and bury myself in the remaining isk.

also maybe put any character with less than 5mil that's account has been inactive for >12 months in the auction to start with, just to silence all of the players whining to clean up the dormants.

this is not true, simply because part of the appeal with eve is 'the start up'

for example, last time i took a break from the game, it was a 5 year break, and I had no problems starting over, in fact after two months of missioning I went ahead and bought this 60 mil skillpoint character from the character bazaar.

lol incursions pay twice as much as missioning, so the possibilities to quickly re-create a 'long lost eve experience' is quite do-able. Im not special, I just made the mistake of investing my time in lvl4 missioning when I should have been doing incursions. I know from experience that incursion runners make crazy amount of money with their shiny fleets and multiple alts, plus its way more fun.

This has the double negative of removing an enticement to former players to resub, whilst potentially releasing vast amounts of locked-away ISK and assets into the economy.

Not a chance.

Not a chance? If you are worried about the economy you are exaggurating it, because I dont think nearly enough people will be leaving on a daily or monthly basis to shake the economy even the slightest
I used to be billionaire, I went from having 20+ billion in my pocket on a daily basis, to having 20 million on a daily basis... so rich people are not necessarily always rich, there is constantly a need for more resources when people pvp, and people should pvp more often imho

This idea is bad, your alliance is on its death bed, half of this thread responses are just you, and I kicked your dog last night.
