How to Fix Mining

Make all asteroids appear the same at first glance, with the only variation between asteroids being size. They would show up on the overview as "an asteroid" with an estimate of their total mass.

Randomly distribute ores within each asteroid, with more valuable ores being rarer. Any given asteroid could contain any given mix of ores. You might get really lucky and find one with mostly "ABC" ore, or you might find one with mostly junk. But in order to know what's in the asteroid, you'd have to SCAN it. This would make mining more interesting, with a new added task of scanning down good 'roids to mine (rather than having the overview *tell* you which roids are the best.) You could find rare ores anywhere from 0.0 to 1.0 security space, but you'd have to scan individual 'roids to find the ones that had decent concentrations.

Next, reduce the overall amount of ore available in belts all over the galaxy. Since most people live and mine in empire space, these belts would deplete to zero quickly. The incentive to mine in 0.0 space then becomes the fact that there is far less competition for ore, even though the same kinds of ore are available. It doesn't make sense that rare ores correspond with security status. Why would the asteroids care how well they're being protected by Concord? :) Rather, it's the *players* that care that they're being protected... and they would pay for greater protection with greater competition from other players.

Not the place for features suggestions.

That said, mining gameplay does desperately need some loving, with the recent income buff being just a small fix to a larger issue.

Best of luck to miners everywhere in getting some good mining gameplay, I;m rooting for you.
