The Angel Cartel and Minmatar Space- Some Small Tips

I have been playing Eve on and off for quite some time. I have lived in 0.0, Amarr Space, Gallente Space, Caldari Space and even a Wormhole for a short while. Until recently I had never set foot in or lived in Minmatar space. This was a completely frustrating experience for a pure Gallente pilot such as myself. The main cause? The Angel Cartel pops up in 90% of missions. So after a week or so and some research I came up with a few things.

1. Multiple types of damage. They generally primary in explosive and kinetic, but several primary in EM damage such as Centurions, Lugatus and Seraphim. Either Armor or shield tank it's a decent idea to remove these first, as EM tends to be lower to try and cover explosive and kinetic, unless of course they are a spawn trigger which is usually the case with Seraphims.

2. Defense wise they appear have more shield HP and better average resists than others. Highest resistance is EM, Thermal being second followed by kinetic and explosive being the lowest.

3. I find medium drones fair better against their frigates than lights, and heavies better against their cruisers. I have completely stopped loading lights and instead run 5 mediums and 3 heavy. Lights take forever against their frigates, even T2 Warriors, and T2 mediums are laughable against a cruiser. Using the next step up speeds things up. Unless you web them. I can't explain this at all... might be do to drones being slow thus following target, thus making tracking easier, but when target is webbed drones are moving too fast for smaller target?

4. All battlecruisers and destroyers melt much faster than any other ship in the fleet. Great to shed some DPS off you.

5. Tracking is huge, Angels tend to move quickly, get in your face and have a low signature radius. All else fails, get a webber. Almost all but a few stay within about 20k give or take, mostly less. Scary to have 5-6 Machariels surround you.

6. Damage at range is a key to survival. Remembering that most Angels get right up on before they really start to unload, it's vital to remove as many as possible before they get inside their optimal, seems logical I know, but more DPS vs tank will be your saving grace.

After my short time over here and all the frustration I went through I thought I would share in case anyone is currently in my position or ends up in it. This is all coming from a Kronos pilot, who stubbornly refuses to cross train into a different racial ship. Nor do I wish to use a Dominix as it boring waiting on drones alone.

not to bash your efforts but almost everything you said is common knowledge and anyone can read it up in any decent mission guide.

I should buy an Ishtar.

To be fair, eve-survival (which is what everyone uses) doesn't go into the detail the OP has. I've been playing for years and never knew Seraphims had Em as primary dps.

So I say cheers to the OP for some decent and interesting info.

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Nice collection of information. Ive followed the opposite route. I "grew up" in Mini space and after started running missions realized that the LP store rewards suck (for me at least) and moved to Gallente space to run Caldari missions. Its significantly easier and I like the rewards better.

Theres the running joke of course that the races are color coded based on difficulty Caldari>Gallente>Ammar>Mini :D

The ships mentioned were Centurions, Lugatus and Seraphim. They definitely deal EM damage.

However, that seems to be a good site you linked, thanks.

I am also finding Angels the easiest and fastest to kill opponents, probably because they often tend to close range, and don't employ e-war.

Berserkers seem to deal with them OK. On a non drone boat I'd stick with Warriors.

Blockade against angels is much more fun than against say serps or Guristas. "Target paint me all you like boys".

I only did L4 Angel's blockade so far, it's one of very few missions I prefer to decline if I don't have a partner to run it with. My tank doesn't hold there. I have also tried sniping - it works, but it's long. Maybe, I'm doing this mission wrong?..

Nope...you're fine. It's Blockade. Working as intended - which is to be a PITA mission with a small chance of faction goodies.

Edit: Don't skip that mission ever...

Wow, never heard of that thanks!

Except you did bash his efforts, and made no attempt to point people at a "decent mission guide" — thus giving people the impression that you are simply a troll. You added nothing of value to the topic.

I have mainly used http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports — but these days I don't bother with guides. Just warp in with LOLfit Tengu (aka Glass Cannon: 6 x HML, 4 x BCS, AB) and blow up everything that moves from 100km.

Thank you for the notes, Domono.

Blockade vs Angel Cartel or Blood Raiders are not to be missed, for salvage alone :)

Personally, I don't salvage, i have a feeling it's more effective to run next mission during the time you're spending salvaging (not to mention it's boring and Ihate switching ships). Also, I never noticed Blockade bounties are above average. I'll pay attention the next time :)

P. S. My favourite mission is currently AE 4, I'm under impression it's the most ISK/hr. And if I find someone to salvage, bonus pocket is very good ISK in loot and salvage. But I only started doing missions recently and hardly seen all of them. What are your favourites? Which I shouldn't miss?
