game now unplayable due to frame rate

My frame rate used to be 50 - 60. Since the new patch my frame rate has dropped to 6 which makes the game unplayable. I have already filed a bug report and am just wondering if other people are having the same problem. This is not just when accessing the new inventory system, it's all the time.

The only real time I see a drop in frames that make it nearly unplayable is when the new missiles launch. The missile particles kill my framerate, nearly dropping it from a smooth 30 to a horrible 5. :c
