But it is..
I keep telling my self that it isn't but i think the recent activity and the constant hulk killing in empire show that it is infact dieing..

Hulk mining in empire is not EVE. Arranging a massive gankfest of the lowly hulks--now that's EVE, as any true EVE player knows.

If you ask me, EVE is becoming more healthy by the day.

I think it is hurtful as well but I dont think it is going to kill the game. I still play everquest 1 and people for the past 6 years have been saying this is it, the games over, yet it goes on. Eve will go on and the numbers will ebb and flow though it will definately limit the type of people willing to pay for the game if ganking is the status quo.

Dying? haha, no.
Shedding subs that probably wouldn't have stuck around for the next 6 months? yes.

I'm thinking it will go back to what it was like in the "olden days" where things seemed much nicer, and there was alot less whining over pixels being violenced.

Of course it's nothing to do with the interface change breaking the bots

Also losing people who only play AFK and never participated in the communtiy at all is going to kill Eve... how?

I think it's changing, not dieing. It's starting to appeal less to certain play-styles, while other play-styles continue as usual. It's becoming less casual-friendly, which can be good or bad, depending on your views.

Been playing on and off since 2005, and eve has been "dying" since 2005.

Funny thing is though, for some reason the overall long term population has increased.

I was mining outside Jita last evening, which I don't normally do, I just happened to be in the area and was too lazy to move to safer space. Had the asteroid belts to myself. The asteroids were a decent size. Nobody visited.

I believe it's called cutting off the fat. Time for a leaner, meaner EVE.

I doubt that the accounting department wants to 'trim the fat'. Silly bravado.

Don't worry, EVE will get better soon. The first whiners are finally unsubbing and getting lost to some theme park MMO where they can AFK all day. Every one of them that leaves will improve the game more than CCP ever could. So yeah, EVE's actually on the upswing.

Not silly in the slightest, and it's not bravado, it's common sense, which seems to be lacking among some of those who seem to think CCP should solve all their problems and hold their hand. CCP accept that a certain number of subscriptions will be lost, it's part of their marketing projections, as with any company based on a similar model.

if you think that losing a number of subs when players find they do not like the product is anything new in this industry, you're seriously mistaken and living under false assumptions. Dead wood will fall away, it's a fact of nature.

as a long playing member i say overzealous griefing is indeed killing eve by making many very casual players quit. biggest playerbase afterall is one that is in empire and thats a fact.

The problem with Eve is it's too difficult to get the hang of, particularly the extremely high learning curve and the UI and the complexity. I asked my nephew about this as he gave it a shot and he hates it. Only a certain kind-of person can get along with Eve, so it's never going to be as popular as WoW.

Don't you get how important Krixtal Icefluxor's $60 is to CCP? They should do literally anything he says, lest they lose it!

with the neverending hulkageddon going on, a lot of miners will quit.......which will lead to less mod's and ships being made, and higher prices of the mods and ships. the only way to counter the inflation is to make payouts worth more. if this keeps up, you could see ship prices doubling or even tripling.
