So it didn't even take the whole 14days to convince me that this is going to be worth a subscription. Coming from a long list of the very typical mmo's, this is the first one to really overwhelm me since SWG (but that fell apart after they let everyone become jedi), and I really love that I've played for about 7day and am sure I have have a crap tonne of stuff to learn about this game (were other games I'm sure I can end-game in a week or so).
So I figured, because this is a community drivin game, I should drop a hello to the community :)
So "Hello, and how are people this fine day?"

So, only thing I would like to say, Welcome to EVE, hope you have a great time. Keep in mind mistakes do matter here (ships lost is actually a ship lost) but are only learning points (how to prevent that lost next time) if you follow the basic rule of "only fly what you can afford to loose".

I dubbed my 4th day of playing. I just hit six months and I am as happy as can be. Lots to learn and learn and conti.is to learn. the fact that you looked outside the game window to the info beyond is the kind of thing that helps you get grounded. It's fusterating and fun at the same time.

Well I've started the move away from newb space, is there any sectors that i should spend time in before i make my way to more dangerous locations? And what is prerequisites for going to nul-sec, like ship class and weapon levels?

I played SWG as well. Many moons ago. Then it all went to crap. So ever since then i have been trying to find a game where i can pretty much imgaine it and then do it. i have been playing pretty steady for almost a year and love it. Heck even when i got podded i still loved it because its different. There is so much to this game and so much to do i havent even remotly scratched the surface yet. I think you will enjoy your time here. its not all sunshine and rainbows but its still a great time lol but be careful it will suck your life away :) So welcome to the fray and enjoy! happy hunting.

Lesson Learned dont fly a badger full of trade good into null-sec. Not that it happend to me or anything........;)
