- lags affecting the loading of hangars and ship maintenance arrays at POSes have been bogging us for years. Yet, it seems it took just a week to roll a fix for it. Why did you wait so long to fix it?

- Accessing ship bays (like the drone bay) is far more intuitive now. But did you need to remove the old context menu when right clicking on a ship?

To your first question, this was not trivial. The Unified Inventory actually required we rewrite almost the entire Inventory code, re factoring heavily. The code was quite messy and very old. Now that the code is much healthier, leaner and quicker we can look into problem areas and improve performance realistically.

This was a design choice as we are trying to reduce the number of changeable options that are displayed in the right click menu.

Finally as a general point we just didn't have enough time to get the ability to drag out secondary windows and visually indicate POS structures out of range, but hopefully we will get to that next.

Thanks for your work, however the Assets window needed work first. Had you unified that first with combining personal/corp assets and filters etc. Worked out filters/bugs etc with that THEN built an inventory system around assets + inventory I think you may have had better reception.

EDIT: Right now it feels like we're all testing a project you've got a lot of pride in instead of this being on the test server and feedback like what's going on in this thread happening on the Test Server Feedback section of the forums. I realize there is no going back. This is something I've come to terms with however, this whole system just plain wasn't ready for launch. Still... today...

Assuming that's not an alt, new player are the best judge of how frustrating the old inventory system was. Old player seems to have forgotten how counter-intuitive access to ship bays, hangars and container can be.

All the bitching about open windows size and position are just implementation details that some use on TQ will help CCP to improve - too few people are testing changes on sisi and for too few limited activities.

You really want to tell me, that a doubleclick at an icon and drag&drop items between two seperate windows is more difficult than this sh!t we have now with this unified UI, full of crap shortcuts for every window? Twisted
And ... TQ is the new test server now? I must have missed that. CCP had their feedback from SiSi. It was horrible, but they have brought this sh!t live onto TQ. Why?

I pay to PLAY EvE online on TQ. Not to test something crackbrained and half finished stuff from CCP! NO one ever had an demand for a new UI. They should have their new UI. But they also have to rebuild the old UI 100% again with their new code. After that CCP can improve other things and schould make this crap optional. The Captains Quarters are also optional (after an massive revolt from players) and I never use this crap! Then... make this unified sh!t optional and I will also not use this!

It looks like it's only containers with logs. Small containers and freight containers can both be accessed without issue in corp hangars, but station containers cannot be. Not everyone can pull containers from our corp hangars, please offer a time line as to when this will be fixed. Thanks.

I'll point out that there is a difference between theory and practice.

For "healthier, leaner, quicker" code, it sure seems laggy and inefficient. In many cases, worse than the original, although improving with inevitable creeping bugs.

I'll cut you some slack, as the "healthier, leaner, quicker" code may translate into something awesome in time. But, um, why wasn't this all worked out on SiSi before unleashing Holy Hell upon the user base?

My current comments are here.

the code may be healthier, but its missing the basic functionality of the old.

removing the vital right clcik options and replacing them with pointless ones like enter capains closet plus the 4 market related ones, is a reduction of fundimental functionality, not a freaking design choice.

if you didnt have enough time to make this crappy UI work, why the hell is it on tq in the first place?

design over function, is shittty design at best

There is an issue with audit log containers. I have a fix for it that we are currently testing. I will try to get this out in a patch as soon as possible.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

To CCP:

Can we please have a big road map? I have absolute no idea what kind of improvements CCP is willing to implement back in this horrible UI.
Will it be possible to re implement the seperate windows (adjustable in size and position); rightcklick menues; icons at the NeoCom to be short; have our 100% copy of our old UI back?
I have no idea what you are planning and I do not like to be uninformed. If I must cancel my subscription I would like to know If I should do it now or wait, till CCP has re implemented the main features of the old UI and can hope to play EVE again.

So please tell us all what CCP is planning. Just to state "There will be many functions you really like." is not enough and does not work anymore!

CCP, are you determined to give your users RSI or something? I used to have a nice right click option on the orca, and from that little menu I could open cargo, or drones, or ore hold, or corp hangars.....
Now, I've got to navigate through a mess of the unified (or is that untested) inventory system, shift click or right click or however you're meant to get a new window open, plus it's abysmal to say the least.

I appreciate that bugs happen, but not being able to open audit containers in corp hangars is a poor state to release a patch in. I know that TQ isn't the same as SiSi, but why wasn't it tested before TQ came back online to make sure things were working properly. I'm sure that most people would be happier with an extra little bit of downtime while it was reverted back to the previous version so the patch could be re-programmed.

I really wish you had introduced it like captains quarters, made it optional, it's so much more work as a user navigating around than the old system. Sometimes simpler to look at isn't simpler to use.

Surely the new system is more load on the server, it still takes me 4+ seconds for the corp hangars to open the first time (a big improvement on the 10 seconds before this patch though!), maybe I'm getting too old for this modern sleek look, and I'm easily confused, but I can't help but feel that it was bulldozed in despite people complaining that they didn't like it. I know you can't please all of the people all of the time, but I hanker after the simpler days, the days of the corp hangar button at the bottom right, the days of the ships and items icons on the bottom left, and the days where valuable screen real estate wasn't taken up by menu's you need to see to be able to get to your stuff instead of the old bunch of 7 tabs across the top of the box.

This fix has gone live as a client update and should resolve any problems users had with viewing the contents of containers within Corporate hangar divisions.

Please restart the client to receive this update if you are experiencing the problem.

Apologies for this.

I see only replies from devs about current issues and not the core problem this is very disheartenign to me.... many of us older players still are not happy with this system.

how hard would it be to right us a check box in options to do one of many things

1 turn off market quotes on my inventory
2 return simple right click to my POS for ONLY the mod i click on with ALL hangers in a single window
3 an option to single click on your BS tree and it pops up a seperate window. there is no reason i should have to shift click to get a second window. this system adds way to much extra work then needs to be
4 why is the inventory still loading mods at my POS that I'm not in range of? If you atleast cut out the mods im not in usuable range of it would cut down the time I have to scroll through this list of crap you are ramming down my throut.

I've asked before and will ask again...what was simpler then being able to right click on the mod I needed and only pull up that mods hanger? seriously what is more simpler then that? why do i need to scroll through all of these mods to find the next mod i need when before i could just right clcik on both and BAM both windows where side by side where i needed them to transer from one hanger to the next.

It really feels like you guys have made life so much mroe harder then it needed to be. I think it should say something when i say in the almost 4 years I've played I've never been more active on the forums then to tell you guys how upset with this change i am. I know i'm not alone as i've seen many others say the same. I see some like it which is fine for them but if your going to force feed this thing to the rest of us and expect us to still play atleast add the options as OPTIONAL. this way i can have as close to the old system as it gets and the ppl how love this vile thing get what they want.

So with the latest patch my inventory windows never have the tree view open by default and I have to open that manually every time. Instead of reusing the window when opening a can I get a new window?? Hotkey gives new window instead of switching the view too. So basically we are back to a endless sea of windows beyond windows? I was under the impression the project was aimed at removing window spam.

Whatever, can you please make this entire thing >>>>configurable<<<<, please?

There are people wanting many windows? So let them have their windows. If they prefer one unified window, let them configure that too. Rocket surgery this is not!

tl;dr Yesterday good; today flush down material again.
