PI - Route creation?

Hey All,

I'm having a serious problem with my PI and I believe it's related to not being able to route.

I have ECU --> ECU --> Storage ---> 2x factory.

Nothing is working. I have them all linked but I can't seem to get anything to go anywhere.

How does one create routes?

Thanks!

Be sure you are routing the ECUs to the storage, routing the raw materials from storage to the factories and the final product of the factory to your launchpad. Simply connecting the structures is not enough.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

Neat. I read about 3 guides but none actually said how to "connect the routes."

I figured it out. You have to click on the "raw material" from the factory then click create route to the storage.

And you can't create a route from the storage to the factories until you put material in.

Heh :) I'm getting there!!

Yeah, I'm a couple months into PI. The routing bit was the most complicated process for me. (Aside from actually picking the planets and the order in which I pull the raw goods.) In fact, I'm gonna have to redo a lot of my first planets cause I had no clue what I was doing.

Best of luck, you'll be nicely bored with PI in no time.

You shouldnt have to wait until mats are in storage. I havent started a PI from scratch for a few days, and the last one i started i had extra raw materials as well as the CC that i sent to the planet. However i think once you start the ECU you can set its route to the storage/LP storage. When you click on the routes icon on the storage/LP it will show the incoming materials now from the ECU. Click on the incoming materials and create route and set your factory as the destination and it should now have 3000 outgoing units of raw material going to the factory. Once your first ECU gather cycle is complete the storage/LP storage will start sending the raw out when it reaches 3000 units in storage.

Oh I wasn't suggesting that you needed to wait until there were materials in storage to complete your links.

The reason I suggested the ECU > Storage > Factory > Launchpad setup was that it keeps your P0 and P1 stockpiles separated, so that if your ECUs pull in more materials than your factories can handle, you aren't losing your P1s due to the launchpad being full of P0 materials. It also lets you wait a much longer time before you spin by and pick up your P1 materials, as a single launchpad can hold quite a few P1s if it doesn't have to compete for space with P0s.

The storage bin is also handy if you are running extractions longer than 1 day. The first 24 hours produces many more resources than extraction cycles beyond that. A storage bin for P0s can absorb the sudden influx of materials early in the cycle and hold them until the extractors start pulling in less and less materials with later cycles, allowing your factories to catch up. This is especially useful for extracting from planets with a very high amount of common resources.
