Great isn't it. Big smile

Podding has the strategic advantage of getting your opponent out of the system you're in.

He can't dock up and get another ship.
He can't grab another ship from his fleet's Carrier/Supercarrier.
He can't report enemy movements to his fleet.

Podding has no reason to be altered. People don't like losing their implants, or if you're really dumb, SP. Not liking it doesn't mean it should go away.

Fellow Capsuleers, What is the purpose behind podding. As far as I can see it is counterproductive. Sure kill the ship or try for ransom, loot or salvage. But to pod the pilot too is just too much. No profit, creates hostility, pays others to kill you, things like that.

Ok, let be adult about this and eliminate podding. How, easy, make all pods invulnerable, period. Concord already visits severe sanctions against podding in hi-sec. Why not just extend this and make all pods invulnerable? Your thoughts???

What did you lose? HG slaves?

The gameplay reasons why not have already been explained, so I'm going to jump in with-
What, precisely, is the in-universe reasoning behind this?

I am personally pleased to see the variety of replies for and against the idea of eliminating podding. As a relative newcomer to lo-sec, I did not realize how significant it could be. I have learned and appreciate the feedback. Thanks to all of you that have responded. I respectfully withdraw my idea. Straight

Also, great way to mess with someone. See here more info.

I would have hope that someday clone vats require as much biomass going in as coming out - making corpses important.

It would also be the end of Disco SB spamming gate camps.

(unless they didn't need the meat).

The only reason this would be funny would be to strand somebody in a WH system. Otherwise No. Collecting corpses is fun!

2 very good reasons for podding where present in your pod

another good reason is skill loss, it actually matters to get your pod out because losing skills is very painful and causing pain is what we enjoy in this game. Implants are another good reason.

I once lost battleship level V because I forgot to update my clone...it was terrible, yet it made me care more about my char.

EDIT: oh yeah, and CORPSES!
