Covops decloaking in WH anomolies

Hi,

I've recently started using a covops, only to find it's cloak is incredibly fragile... I seem to be decloaked almost every time I warp into a signature or anomoly in a wormhole. Since I'm planning to use my covops to create bookmarks, spy on intruders e.t.c, this is obviously not great. I get no message telling me i've been decloaked and nearly lost my ship on two occasions because of it.

I know i'll be decloaked if anything comes within 2000m, but this isn't happening; I've never had an anomoly where the entrance has been within 2000m of something.

Is there something I can do about this?

It's a known issue from waaay back. Try warping in at extreme range (70-100km) and see if you still get decloaked. Don't forget that all manner of debris exists which can decloak your ship, much of which is not shown by default on the overview. Set up a special bracket setting which shows everything, and use the tactical overlay to verify that there is, in fact, nothing near your ship when you get decloaked.

Remember to file bug reports if you have determined that there is nothing near your ship.

Also when coming out of warp, you might be moving past an object before you become stationary, this will decloak you as well.

Most WH sigs will let you warp in at 100 pretty clear, just keep your ship zoomed in so you see if you decloak then manouver and create bookmarks at your leisure.

No, it's not a known issue.

Set up an overview tab, which will show EVERYTHING.

Yes, everything.

Next time you "randomly decloak" swap to that tab.

Hey presto, there was something there.

Common culprits:

- Large collidable objects. Sometimes they're not "large" and they occur randomly about WH anoms
- Gas clouds
- That ******* beacon thing that is near the wormhole, but not on it
- Biomass (corpses)

As for the "decloak" message. Sadly, there isn't one. Best thing to do if you're doing some silent runnings, is to turn the sound right up (INB4 "eve has sound?") because you will make a sound if you're decloaked.
Otherwise, keep one eye on the pulsing green ring around the cloak.

I haven't checked myself, but perhaps anoms have beacons like missions have. If this is the case, that's what's de-cloaking you. I'll check later on tonight just to confirm/deny while I'm esplorin.

I've ran into this myself, warping to a WH from the Scanner window... I assumed it was a beacon of some sort.

another rule to add to your long growing list of things not to do in a WH....
Never Warp to Zero

Seriously, most every site has a beacon as a starting point/some sort of game mechanic placekeeper .
I use as a general rule: WH - 20kmm off
planets 70-100km off
missions sites of any type 100km

all this assumes I'm cloaky and have ebil intent ofc.

All signatures have a beacon, though it was made invisible a while back, I don't know if that means they still have a physical presence that can uncloak.
