Farewell Capsuleer! Good luck with your new endeavors! Hopefully, you'll return to Eve!

What, the "I enjoyed the game but I'm not dumb enough to pay for something I don't enjoy anymore" attitude?

Yeah, I can see how that would be a problem. Roll

Actually, I didn't mean that. I was amazed he survived (i.e. was not ganked frequently enough). I wish him good luck in whatever PvP flagging themepark MMO he ends up in. EVE does not seem to be OPs game.

You have three pretty simple and rather obvious options aside from cancelling your subscriptions.

1: Mine in Low-sec/Null-sec. Gankers aren't likely to risk their "all gank no tank"-ships just for the chance of finding a sole miner in low-sec, when they can just fly into an asteroid belt and things almost instantly die around them.

2: Mine in less expensive ships. Covetors can mine almost as much as Hulks, and they cost what? 10% the price of a Hulk? With equipment they can reach (at most) 15% of a bare Hulk's price. And the rules for pay-outs specifically say gankers will be paid for killing Exhumers, meaning your Covetor will be of way less interest to gankers, because it's not an Exhumer (I'm guessing it's because Exhumers require Technetium to build and Goons want to be able to constantly sell that stuff).

3: Both of the above. Mine in Low-sec/Null-sec in a Retriever and you'll be 90% safe, which amounts to 90 percentage-points safer than you will be in a Hulk in High-sec. And what's the trade-off? At most, you lose that extra 15% Mining Yield the Hulk gives you, but you'll lose less ISK if you get ganked. Or mine in a gang of tanked-out Ospreys set up for Mining AND Logistics, and you'll be pretty safe from solo-gankers and small gangs.

But of course, some people don't think further than "this gives the best yield". I'd rather lower my yield in exchange for a feeling of being a less likely target, if I was a miner. Just because you're a carebear, it doesn't mean you have to be short-sighted. If you lose 2 Hulks, that's about 500mil ISK destroyed (if not more nowadays). If you lose 20 Covetors, that's pretty close to 500mil ISK too (I don't know the exact numbers, so don't blame me if they're wrong. I'm basing my estimates on EVE-Central's lowest Jita sell-prices). If you lose 20 tanked-out, spider-tanking Ospreys, you and your team-mates clearly f*cked up somehow and deserve it (or you got a major fleet dropped on you), and yet you'll still only have lost the very same 500mil, provided you spent 25 mil on buying and fitting each of them, though it'll take more to destroy 20 Ospreys than it will to destroy your 20 Covetors.

TL;DR: Yield doesn't matter. Cost-efficiency does. Let that be a lesson to all carebears in the future

There are other sandbox MMOs.

They are less magnificent than EvE on paper but hey, they have many less douches.

I.e. I am playing a player driven economy MMO with graphs and stuff like EvE, with TONS of crafting (like 87 professions, it got BPOs with varying quality product etc.), called Entropia Universe and it should also have spaceships combat. It's free to play until you start wanting to go above newbie doom.

There are PvP games out there that are funnier than EvE and you have no flag. You know, not in all PvP games, the PvPers try any way to escape PvP.

There is much more to a guy quitting than mining.

It's the current toxic, nauseating atmosphere where players get hammered by imposed ideology and propaganda.
Un asked for schooling.

Be told to go the imposed way or the highway.

Continuously looked upon like they are the lowliest r3tards.

- "You have little play time? You should die".
- "You should even go pee with a compliment of 117 fleet members".
- "You should be in 0.0 else you are a society discard".
- "Lol you are bad you stayed in starter area". We'll fix you.
- "Hahaha lowly amoebas we pop your ship and you'll rebuy it from us making us infinitely richer".
- Continuous rude rants even on external websites about the "carebears cancer", veiled apologies of past dictators about hi seccers basically deserve the Final Solution.
- Never ending ranting about how it's too good to actually be able to have a decent life selling your goods, playing the content one likes and so on and this MUST END because WE DECIDED SO.
- Continuous verbage about "this is a SANDBOX idiot". It's a free playground where you ... MUST play like our groupthink decided to.

This is not about mining, this is about an ideological oppression.

A tanked hulk is still easy to kill, you know it, I know it and everyone else knows it, you just want more ISK per kill to pad your kill list.

I have no idea how often he was ganked, if ever.

It is however clear that at one point he felt EVE was his game, and for quite a while. He no longer feels that way so he leaves. Seems quite rational.

That attitude probably doesn't help either.

It's almost like I am able to split a reply in two and talk about a sandbox example on one side and non PvP flagged games in another. The *two* separate quotes could have given an hint.

Also, the "non PvP zone" in space is exactly equal to zero.

Why are you all attacking the OP because he is quiting becuase he cannot mine?
Like i keep saying some people play the game for relaxment like mining in space chatting to corpies and selling stuff while they multi task.

This eve community is getting real bitter, that along with goons is killing this game.

Another one bites the dust.

Always saddens me to see these types of threads constantly being posted every day now. This has definitely been the trend for the past couple of years, especially in this year alone. Obviously this is a major problem now due to unbalanced game mechanics being exploited on a large scale which seriously needs to be addressed by CCP asap. If there wasn't a problem, this sub-forum wouldn't be filled with threads about the topic of ganking.

Your tastes do not necessarily apply to others.

That realization is a developmental stage I'm sure you'll stumble across eventually.

Maybe instead of whining about it and crying till you quit you could try something different than mind numbing mining?

Who's more self entitled: the one crying because the game does not suit his taste or the one defining what everybody should like or not like to do?

You are identical.

The only thing sadder is sticking with something you don't love.
