Can't approach anything after using orbit or keep at range

As of this patch (or maybe earlier? Can't say for certain) any time I orbit or use keep at range, the approach command will not function on that target until I do something to "break" the previous command. Double click in space, orbit or approach or KAR some other target, etc.

I had the same problem. Stopping ship works but it does need to be fixed.

Hi.

This issue is either still occurring, or occurring again - at least to some degree. I'm no longer experiencing the issue with Orbit, but using Keep At Range causes the approach command to not function until I manually stop, orbit whatever I KAR'd, approach something else, orbit somethign else, KAR something else, etc.

This has been happening to me for at least a month. Makes missions a real pain as I frequently end up out of range and miss a lot. Module activation and drone response has been getting worse as well. I often have to spam drone commands to get them to attack anything and their settings don't seem to mean anything at all. Trying to "blitz" missions to raise my corps standing has turned into me just killing everything anyway for the lag. Also, missions have been behaving strangely of late. Several "encounters" that never spawned rats. Another nitpick while I'm at it, there are still mission chains with mining encounters in security agents pool. Please get rid of them. If I want mining missions, I'll go with those agents.

I don't mission in hubs and it's annoying as hell to have to go ten jumps to pick up a miner I just to get some rats to spawn. Having to break up my weapon groups, usually turn off some mods because of tight fits, just to pop a rat or two so I can then buy the ore anyway.

Next time this is happening to you could you quickly use the ingame bug reporting tool (F12) and create a bug report?

This will submit all the necessary logs etc in one go.

I'll do it right now - it is eminently repeatable as, at least for me, it occurs 100% of the time when I use Keep-At-Range on a target and then attempt to approach that same target.

Edit: Er, well, I tried. I get a failure message on the bug report submission, but the network I'm on right now is a bit flakey. Will do so later from home.

happened to me yesterday. will file a bug if it happens again and i am not in combat

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

i just noticed this, this is a typical ccp response we are giving you the conditions in which the bug is manifested and yet you tell us to create a bug report

how about you go on one of your many servers recreate the conditions and see for your self then YOU can create a bug report, you are getting paid after all

something seriously wrong with the procedures in place atm with regards to HOT FIXING stuff

ps its not like me to emo rage but dam.......

easily replicated, 100%, press "keep at range" then click Approach...nothing happens, guaranteed

I poked the responsible person and raised the issue again with the QA lead team.

Edit: Just re-read my own reply and realize this answer isn't very satisfying for anybody, however there isn't much more I myself can do at this moment (other then poking people and letting you guys know that I did). I'm sorry if I don't always hit the right tone with my replies, I just try to cover as many threads/posts as possible in the short amount of time I have each day for the forums.

Just to make you aware of why we ask for BRs.

1. Logs, steps, description and screenshots, if we can't reproduce the issue
2. How widespread the issue is/how many users it affects, if we can reproduce the issue and are aware of it.

There is no other way to show 2 (which is a large part of how priority is defined) in our defect tracking system. You can't go "this defect has 500 forums posts on it", but you can look at it and say "it has 120 attached bug reports. This is very serious".

Out of interest, have you thought about getting a way to do that?
I know in my office I'd *kill* for something as defined and auditable as a forum thread to attach to an incident.

That said, it might just work out a waste of time when you factor in the job of attaching threads to defects. :/
