Epic Arc Missions: Golem Gank fears

I enjoy doing the Epic Arcs, currently running them in a Drake.

The Golem appeals to me because:
I already have torpedos trained up to Spec 4. for my stealth bombers.
Being able to salvage arc missions sounds good, currently let the wrecks rot

How "Gank worthy" is a T2 fit auto-piloting Golem?

Some of these missions require you to travel 40+ jumps through high-sec and I prefer to AFK watch movies while the transit happens.

No one will gank a T2 fitted Golem. its when you have a lot of officer fit stuff that you might end up as toast
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

Lvl1.

For the introductory, lvl1, SOE epic arc a battleship is way overkill and will slow your progression down bigitime. A T2 BS is just plain ludicrous.

Lvl3.

For the lvl3 arcs (angels and guristas) a golem is a very bad idea. Firstly because it'd be a fairly expensive and pretty inevitable loss, and secondly because all except a couple of the mission sites will not let it thru the acceleration gates. It'd be useless.

Lvl4.

For the lvl4 arcs i'd be impressed if you've run them all solo in a drake ... some of those missions pump out non-trivial amounts of DPS, and the Amarr lvl4 arc is pretty good at humiliating shield-tanking ships.

All the same a T2-fitted golem is not going to be majorly at-risk from gankers if you're running it on any of the lvl4 epic arcs. From memory the longest hauls are 10 - 12 jumps in the minmatar arc, and 6 - 10 in the others. There's little point in ganking a T2 fit battleship, unless it's carrying a load of very valuable items. It'd be a different story if it was deadspace / officer fit ... then you're a ripe target.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

The Amarr ones were tough on the tank, but if you sit out around 70km, most of the DPS falls off and you can hit-and-run until the DPS becomes tankable.
The "Veteran" battleship mission I had to warp out after each battleship until the DPS dropped once the "Greens" start showing up the hard part is over and the rest of the Arc is cake.
@ Optimal the initial DPS of "Ascending Nobles" ~ 1200.
@ 70km I was able to survive a good 60+ seconds and warped out without a problem @ 20% shields

The Caldari arc was the only hatred inducing one, the final mission is perm ECM, and FoF missiles turn the drake from slow-steady (~1m per battleship), to ~(4-5 minutes per battleship)

as previous posters stated aslong you don't pimp up your golem nobody will touch it and you rarely have to travel more than 12 jumps with it
Of course you know not to take it into lowsec for those couriermissions right

You will actual struggle in some missions with a golem

Amarr epic arc the mission ascending Nobles that first spawn of 5 elite battleships is a killer if you get closer than 50 k , your tt2 torpedo range you get so much incomming dps ot is almost impossible to stay without any rep support and of course since most missions are against sansha and that huge EM gap will not help much either tho but can be over come in most missions
If you take the sansha path lissions can be done in a AF

Caldari epic you will be jammed to death in that last mission with a marauder either get some help or use another ship, that is if you take the path for that mobile lab reward

Gallente epic mission 'showtime' ( second last mission) again massive incomiong dps with a spawn that trys it best staying outside the 50 k range

Never done the minmatar epic so i don't know anything about it

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire
