Miners are the Brave, Gankers the Cowards; a Manifesto

Won't be as long as James315's since that reminded me of Mein Kampf, a very bulky volume in itself rattling on about how the Jews are the cause of all the world's problems, and so James 315s manifesto blames, in a shockingly similar way, all Eve's problems on hisec miners.

I don't mine in hisec, I just think they are unfairly made scapegoats of a Joseph Goebbels-like propaganda campaign.

I just want to analyse for a minute a gankers mindset, when scrolling through those killboards and seeing how so many gankers have all these Hulk kills under their belts.

Would anyone REALLY think highly of someone who used a Destroyer with 8 overheated guns to shoot down a Mining vessel with none?

I suspect the REAL reason gankers do what they do, is because they are TERRIFIED little souls, who shake all over at the very thought of fighting in nullsec, losec, WHs, yet desperately want recognition from other players through killboard stats.

Are the Goons courageous in financing Hulkageddon V? Hardly, their mining vessels are tucked away securely from all danger in their nullsec home, systems surrounded by blues.

Sure this is a sandbox, people do what they want, but psychoanalysis is interesting at times Blink

Hisec miners are the real courageous ones, who, despite the terrible dangers to their expensive vessels, carry on enjoying their Eve hobby nonetheless, thinking up ingenious ways in staying alive.

I salute you Hisec miners , wish I was as brave as you are 07.

Oh please no.
It bad enough already when one side proves it doesn't have a single brain cell in its head.
But allowing them to bait you into doing the same.

Just let it go.

Yup. Braving our way over into other games, that's what.

Nothing to do with bravery here. The Goons and the mittani, in thinking they are doing everyone a favor, have targeted, in my case, the $60 a month I was willing to give to CCP.

Their falsity is proclaimed most loud in the falsehood of Miners wanting absolute safety. That is indeed propaganda, as it is far from the truth.

The truth is : there are limits.

The line has been crossed.

Only single true answer to your problem, stop mining, start ganking.

ITT: players mad that warship is able to easily destroy a merchant ship.

You think world powers were raging and crying like this in WWII when subs were sinking unarmed cargo ships left right and center? no. Grow a pair, adapt, this is EVE.

+1, though applying Godwin's Law in the opening paragraph was a bit like painting a target on your forehead. Not too far off the way I felt when struggling through James315's ridiculously overblown nonsense though, and halfway through I just decided he was mentally deranged and obsessive and never have managed to summon the :effort: to try to reread it.

The reason they're doing it is simple mathematics: it profits them to do so. As long as the Technetium imbalance remains, it will continue. The redistribution of moon goo (even better, making it depletable) would be a huge boon to the whole of EVE, and might even make nullsec less stagnant. I doubt it will happen though. Roll

Umm, you do realise most of us who do ganking actually live and pvp in low or null sec all the time. Im a lowsec pirate, I gank because i find it an amusing way to fill a slow day not because it pads my killboard in any noticable way. As for the miners, the brave ones suck it up, accept the risks and adapt their tactics while the cowards, the stupid and the lazy beg Mummy CCP to save them and write ****** forum posts about ebil piwates.

There is no single mindset, so I doubt your analysis through perusal of killboards will achieve anything. There are any number of reasons why gankers kill miners, but here is a short list to get you started. Gankers kill miners because:

  1. They can
  2. That's all they can kill
  3. They have small penises
  4. They manufacture Hulks, or produce technetium which is used extensively in Hulk manufacturing
  5. They are miners themselves and want to get rid of the competition
  6. They view it as a service to the greater community to remove "fail fit" ships of all kinds from space
  7. They are on a mission from God to destroy all bots, and God told them that all miners are bots
  8. They like blowing things up, but solo PvP kills in low sec are hard to find
  9. They are on a mission from God to protect the Veldspar/asteroids
  10. They want everyone to be required to be at the keyboard and actively spamming D-scan when playing the game

Note: where I use the word God, feel free to substitute any real or imaginary friend of your own choosing.

Miners are not “brave”, neither are gankers “cowards”. Those are generalisations and like all generalisations, are false.

It is time for miners to give the gankers what they want: supertanked hulks with logistics support supplying tritanium to the market at 10ISK/unit, requiring a fleet of alpha tornadoes to single-shot them.

That's fine and dandy, but after ganking we still 'hear' about it and get your Idiot Tear-Trolling posts. Have fun with that. Be proud.

You ruin someones day "in-game" , and you laugh at it? Do you laugh when you lose a 300mil ship? Just wonderingRoll

Absolutely fantastic analogy to Mine Kampf, brilliant!

As a high sec miner myself, I don't really mind having a large alliance creating content for a certain niche to the discontent of another. The issue here is not who does what and if they should be allowed to do it, the issue is such a small and simple thing:

Make the cost of taking down a mining ship in highsec en par with obtaining a new one

This is really all I have a problem with. Continue with Gate Camping, Jita Scamming, Hauler Ganks, Miner Ganks, all things that makes you happy deep down your pants, as long as this imbalance is corrected.

So I can see two possible outcomes here; either some of the lighter ship models are made redundant as gank ships or the Exhumers become cheaper to manufacture (perhaps alternatively a new insurance system that factors in suicide ganking?).

As CCP I would look for a solution that somewhat mitigate the losses for the Miner-block of their customer base and at the same time allow for player-driven events like Hulkageddon to be possible.

They only ruin someone's day "in-game" because they take the game way too seriously and are far too attached to those pixels that they're flying. The rest of us just feel a bit stupid for having lost the ship, realise we made a mistake there and move on. The ones who had their day ruined are still bleating about it for days or weeks later.

The intelligence of EVE players is just astounding. Really.

Although that would indeed work, taking it orally under the tongue works just fine. Just clarifying for everyone.
