Drone loadout for solo PvP Thorax

What do you think?

5 light Damage and 5 Light ECM

or

5 Medium ECM

or

5 Medium Damage

I'd go for 5 lites, 5 ECMs.

If you are blaster fit, lites are pretty much your only defense against kiting tackler, and ECMs are the Gallente gtfo method, as ou can't outrun anyone.

5 meds rock in a gang, and if you prefer to fly 100% balls to the wall -solo :)

Except that you will of course fit a web and of course know that medium drones WRECK frigates cause they move at 2k/s?

Mediums are the only way to fly on a thorax. Just drain drone navigation to 4.

5 lights do crap all dps, 5 lights do mediocre jamming. Either bring 5 hammers or 5 ec-600.

iirc medium only do 1.5x the damage of lights but are much slower which is a significant dps loss in practice.

Never use medium drones. If you do. You're flying a drone boat.

With said. 2 exceptions are valks (exp) and infil (em). Infact I've been thinking about replacing thermal drones with em for awhile now (1yr), but it's only worth it with medium drones...

I prefer light exp>therm>Em drones and 5 ecm drones.

Web doesn't reach to long point range, and even if mediums can catch an ab frigate, they do less dps than lights to frigs.

If you can web stuff down, your blasters will hit them too.

5 med ECMs obviously jam better, and could even be used as sort of tank, but don't help much with tacklers.

Of course, fit drones to taste, now you can even try the new webber drones, 5 mediums might be a great choice. I haven't really tested them much yet, but it's an interesting option.

Drone speed isn't an issue for a blaster boat working in scram range, and 60 dps more is quite a bit for a cruiser.

And they are still bugged. Not very ussable in combat imo.

Do you want our opinion or do you want to know which is better/worse?

One answer is, we dont know!

Why don't we know? Because we don't know what you like to do more / better/ your favorite color or food is, only you know.
If you are unsure how to go, try it out.
At some point you will a way to put your drones to use in a way you see fit.
