Scan Detection

Am I the only one who thinks it a little odd that our ships are unable to detect when they are being scanned down? This is something that could be tackled in a few different ways.

Skill Only

This would work on the assumption that your ship already has the basic equipment to detect scan frequencies. Training of said skill would simply increase your effectiveness at using it.

Skill + Module

The same as above but there would also be a module available that significantly increases your ships effectiveness in detecting scans. Perhaps a mid-slot module?

I am a firm believer that everything should have it equal opposite. If we can be scanned down by means of skills and modules then there should be skills and modules that allow us to counter that. Cloaking is not the solution as it does not provide information like scanning does.

Thoughts?

You can tell when you are being scanned down.

No, im not going to tell you how.

Its easy to know that someone is scanning you. Really.

CCP really please dont use Upgraded, Limited, Experimental and Prototype in item names. It sounds like the item is actually worse than basic meta 1 item. Use Calibrated, Enhanced, Optimized and Upgraded. Its really easy to understand that the item is better than meta 1 and its also in alphabetic order.

Not without just one more, cluttered, annoying, disorganized window up on your screen, further limiting the actual space graphics that you get to look at, and requiring you to constantly click a button and scroll through a list...

We need a warning alarm, sound or visual, that you can set to automatically go off when your scanner picks up a "sisters combat scanner probe" or any item on the D-scan actually. D-scan should be constantly updating, and you should be able to filter what shows up on it (separate from overview) like you can with system scanner.

OP is right, a skill and module, plus HUGE improvements to D-scan (honestly to the whole UI in general), is needed to not only alert you of being scanned down, but to make you more aware of your long range surroundings.

So... what you're saying is... you want to incorporate aspects of botting into the game because you can't be bothered to actually be active.

Gotcha.

*EDIT: Also, someone developed a tool designed to provide audio alarm cues quite some time back. CCP broke the tool and declared it illegal, so I don't think they'll be automating things like directional any time soon.

You do realize that modern bot programs already cycle dscan more consistently than live humans ever could, right?

Yes, which was my point. Automated d-scan cycling is a feature of bots, and Leto wants aspects of botting incorporated into the main client.

the ony way this would make sense is if it detected when scan probes were inside a certain range. Otherwise it would go off no matter who they or what they were scanning for even on system wide scans..

set d-scan to 150,000,000
cycle repeatedly
if ya see 3 probes or more, gtfo

i do agree that it should cycle automatically and have audio cue's

im just posting what should be common knowledge since everyone else thinks its a sekret

btw, nothing wrong with bots, that it isnt already incorporate is pretty weak since the future for humans is probably going to be programming bots to do work unless you like doing hazard work in toxic environs, we should be honing our skills in that area not crying foul whenever someone suggests such

We are our own worst enemy.
