Not much of a sandbox when you are forced to adapt to someone's else's style of gameplay because it is what THEY want. Put it another way, EvE in 2007 was so awesome I never wanted to leave. Markets were great, players actually were honorable and fights were REAL fights, fairly fair. Eve was still dark, dont get me wrong, but null sec players understood the need for high sec and actually recruited from there. Get new players and wing them out to null to fight others.

2012, EvE has changed so much and yes while we have nicer graphics and more stuff to do, we have sacrificed much of the spirit of what made EvE what it is. We no longer have honorable fights, its **** you over and move on. Miners went from being treated as the backbones of society to more or less chew toys for dogs. Emergent gameplay? The only thing that is emerging from this style of gameplay is death. Not the death of a player but of a game.

Change is a constant, I realize games change and people change, but not all change is good either. Goons are doing what all humans do, take advantage of others. However, they should realize the consequences of their actions because like it or not all actions have a consequence.

If you wish to continue to bash miners and high sec fine. When this game is dead in 5 years you will just move on to another game to kill, but I love this game and would rather not see it die.

I understand your trying to get people in high sec to band together to take you on so you have more targets to shoot, but know this. People in high security space are there for a reason, they exist to mine, mission, and play eve in "realitive" peace. There is a delicate balance with this game and unfortunately you have ****** that balance up and the worst part is, you just dont ******* care.

Im in no way quiting, I am adapting by parking my hulk and running missions. Quite frankly it does no good to encourge others to do this because Goons still get to sell the minerals on market from their mining bots. Since there would be no other competition prices would still be soaring. So let us all just concede the fact that Goons now control EvE, you guys win. That is it, congratulations, you have done the impossible. You have won in a game that isnt supposed to be winable.


I agree with everything you just said. No one likes it when someone comes in and kicks over the six foot castle you spent hours building in the sandbox. I'm a good sport when someone blows up my stuff but it does not mean I like it. No one likes to lose at anything.

Despite what I just said, I still don't want anything changed in the game that makes it easier for me to win if it means making it harder for other players to win at what they do. Goonswarm and I have the same chance at succeeding. We're on the same level playing field. The only reason The Mittani and Goonswarm win like they win and I don't is because they are better at seizing opportunity than others, including me. I'm not a Goonswarm cheerleader, I'm just mature enought to understand not everyone can be winners.

Or you could make use of the main asset in an MMO.. social contacts.. make a real fleet and fore your way into.

Or you could bribe someoen in their alliance to help you.. or..

well all things that make this game be waht it is.. and hint.. none of them are cute harmless ones.

Funny how all you are falling for this. As they mentioned, they own a huge amount of the T2 material moons so are making billions if not trillions off of that. And to top it off, I am guessing that they probably own most, it not all the Hulk BPOs that are still in game, so for every hulk that is destroyed, they just sell you one at a HUGE profit compared to invention. So even if they pay you 10mil per hulk you destroy they are still probalby making 100mil for each one they sell.

For them to say they are footing the bill.... yeah right..... good one. :)

And btw, before the accusations start flying, i'm not a miner, no tears here, just pointing out the obvious that very few seem to see.

The silliest people in this thread are the ones who try to point out the "scam".

Before this new exciting player driven content people ganked at their loss.

Now they can make money doing what they want; and not peanuts either cosidering the costs of the gank ships and modules dropped.

haha exactly, wow veld to pyroxeres in high, but those ores are increasing in value now so the profit margin for smart rock eaters is in fact skyrocketing. So theyre still not being blown up but gaining more and more wealth.

PS i dont take a side as such, I have been blown up in my retriever once already, shrugged it off - what can ya do.

I'm enjoying scanning though and once my skills are good i'll be scanning down those hard to find mining sites and might be working in there instead. Gank ships gunna have to lose a high slot and some cpu to find me! (assuming i find mining sites and arent just doing combat/salvage sites)

While we all celebrate miners who are actively playing the game -- and believe me, doing exploration to find mining sites instead of lumping up on the low hanging fruit is more active than 99.999999999% of all miners -- I would point out that most gankers would have an alt fit that particular module to track you down and then warp to 0 on that alt.

Please do not assume that just because you are in a Gravometric site that you are safe. You need to remember to align once you land and to watch local for known ganker corporations and your overview for strange people landing nearby.

of course i wouldnt assume im safe anywhere but if i caught scent of someone scanning me down in a scanned site i'd be making ready to depart long before thier scanner alt arrived, and unless they had thier ganker close by even if i was so slow the scanner appeared next to me, i'd still have time to bug out or take what measures i could to survive

If it ever gets too hot for me to even mine in my cheap covetor, i'll switch down to my rokh and enjoy the.. security of its enhanced resilience. Note not immunity

It's hard to imagine people ganking covetors so much that it wouldn't be a good idea to just use it and accept the (much smaller than a hulk) loss if it did get ganked over buying a Rokh. How much does the hull cost now for that train?

no idea what the cost of rokh is, i had mine as an incursion ship but as it turned out i havent flown an incursion in months, and i havent filled the role of heavy dps since last year. Gutting the ship and refitting for mining (8 t2 beams couple yield increasers) was more an experiment at first so see if my skills would allow it. It did and i flew it sucessfully during the recent hulkageddon

I currently fly a covetor, and have the skillset all trained for a hulk (i own one of thm too) but havent checked my fitting skills to see if i tank it up enough to feel comfortable. And if im not well it going to wait cause i am focusing on my scanning skills now cause im on a scanning spree lol

And remember, passive align is a myth. if you are not moving in the right direction at 75% of your max velocity, you are not aligned.

Someone posted a nice hulk fit that had a max velocity of about 11m/s when properly used somewhere on these forums tho, might be worth spreading the knowledge Blink

As many have done, I confirm that we will indeed pay out 100m if you can kill 10 goonwaffe hulks in high sec.

Kill hulks, go negative, kill one rat per system, gain sec status, kill more hulks, get paid. There is no downside.
