A tiny bit more grid would allow the fitting of a T2 Medium Shield Extender. Right now it takes an MAPC II and an ACR Rig just to fit a Destroyer Sized Shield Extender.

I am willing to bet that if they gave just enough grid to fit on pretty much every miner would have one of them and 2 Invulns giving them a little tank...

A little optimistic when faced with the common empty mid slot fail mails I've seen sure but still. A ship scanner and a Catalyst would teach them to adapt or die.

Be realistic, that'll never happen. The vast majority of miners are clueless on the game and game mechanics, don't read forums, don't interchange info with others outside maximising yield (if they even get that far) and telling boogie man stories about how can flippers put one ammo into THEIR can and thus it changes owner. They don't think, don't learn and don't put in effort. If you try to help them and explain them how stuff really works using logic and reasoning (like how ore you mined yourself isn't free) they remain stubborn and dumb.

May sound harsh but over the years I've talked to/flipped/wardecced/helped SO many miner corps it's the sad truth, the vast majority just doesn't "advance" in eve.

Suicide gankers using blasters would have a tough time vs the ancil shield boosters. I agree it doesn't help vs the nado but arguably the nado isn't the exhumers worst enemy.

Sounds like a big and crazy idea! But imo T3 industrial ships would be far more intresting! cruiser sized ships with subsystems where you could configure the boat for gas mining, ore mining or ice mining.
Also expanding t3 technology into other avenues in the game would be a logical step with t3 becoming more and more used by pilots and corps.

I haven't had as much experience at observing bad miners as you, but I've come to the same conclusion. No amount of fittings or Hulk buffs short of a massive raw EHP buff will lessen the suicide ganks.

I agree that the CPU/PG of the Hulk is a little too tight, making the lives of those who do want to tank it difficult. I'm not sure anything will ever be done about that, though, as the Hulk is a T2 "top of the line" ship, and it is common that those are hard to fit/operate in addition to being very skill intensive. Still, you don't even need a MSE:
Quote:
[Hulk, Reasonable tank]

Mining Laser Upgrade II
Damage Control II

Survey Scanner II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field I
Small Shield Extender II

Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal II
Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal II
Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal II

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Mining Drone II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

That's a very solid tank with just a SSE. The more urgent need in my opinion is to give the Hulk (and other mining ships) more agility. That the hulk aligns slower than a triple-plated Abaddon is just pathetic.
