EVE Online: Inferno 1.0.4 to be deployed on Tuesday, May 30th

EVE Online: Inferno 1.0.4 will be deployed on Wednesday, May 30th, during a regular downtime. This patch includes a number of fixes and improvements for the Unified Inventory and user interface.

Todays updates are meaningless and do not address the conceptual FLAW in the new UI and its failure to be an improvement over the old methods in any meaningful way and success in being a lot worse in many others.

Inventory actions will still take more time and effort and mouse-clicks than before.

Windows has a file manager, BUT I STILL OPEN MULTIPLE WINDOWS TO SELECTIVELY COPY FILES AND FOLDERS FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER since its quicker and more accurate than rooting around a tree. When i can see both locations at once i can be more sure i make less mistakes.

My ship cargo windows occupy a narrow area at the top of the screen, 1 item high. When im in station i have space at the bottom of the screen to fill with the contents of station containers so i can with one glance see what is where.

But now my station containers open in my narrow ship cargo area (since the large empty area at the bottom of the screen is used for other things when im undocked) i have to search though a tree system that i can only see 2 branches high using a 10px scrollbar and even if i open a station container with shift click it just opens randomly in the middle of the screen interfering with my fitting window and practically any other window i have open.

any of the urgent UI improvements needed in it? - NO

still wonder what ccp is doing all day while thousands of people are unhappy with the new UI? - YES

got the feeling back that ccp takes players concerns seriously? - NO

another sad day? - YES

waiting for another patch then...



I really love this game but at the moment i'm seriously wondering what's going on there.

Why it is so difficult to improve whats an obviously big issue to the playerbase?
I mean how many more posts about the new UI does it need until you treat this issue with the importance it deserves?

What about a post like this?

Just got in an had a look around.
Orca - How the hell do I open my Ore Hold now? It can't be done from the right click menu any more!!!
---- Never mind found convoluted way of doing it via switching to non compact mode, closing the filters and then shift clicking on the Ore Hold, and then switching my cargo hold back to compact mode.

I see that opening a Container in space from the selected item "Open Container" icon still opens in an existing window. IT SHOULDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also is there any way to turn off the bouncy bars(Those blue bars that show how much space will be used, they are distracting as hell)?

Other UI/Inventory pet peeves:
- Dragging an item from your Cargo Hold to Corp Hangar of a Fleeted Orca with Permissions set onto an item of the same type Should Stack it, not give you a "You have been denied access for the following reason: This office does not belong to your corporation." Error

- Dragging items to a nearly full Corp Hangar and Ore Hold in your own Orca, should act the same as dragging to a nearly full Cargo Hold. ie Prompt for amount to move if it is too big

CCP Spitfire, how about some sort of visual indicator as to how full all the items on the tree are? Last night I was tripple boxing a mining op, 2 hulks and an orca. The hulk pilots only needed one inventory window open and could drag ore to the corp hangar in the tree. But the orca pilot needed two windows, one showing the corp hangar, and one showing the ore hold or the orca hold, so I could monitor how full they were getting. It sure would be nice if I could get the amount of volume used without needing a second window.

Also an annoying behavior: When dragging stuff over to the tree, the inventory window will sometimes switch to showing the contents of the destination container. If you are fast you can keep this from happening, but its annoying when it does as then you got to manually change it back. A better behavior would be for it to not happen, or:

When dragging an item to the tree or hovering the mouse over tree, the contents of the container being hovered over is displayed, but the inventory window goes back to the original selection once the mouse is removed from the tree.

Still dont notice anything and still hate the new UI .Quit wasting time on this UI and start wasting time figuring out how your gonna get our old UI back.

Guys, please stop whine about the new UI system. It won't happend in a day, it takes time..... Give CCP the time to solve all the issues. CCP has said they'll be releasing update for the new UI once a week until they solve all the known issues.

We had an inventory/hangar system that was infinitely superior to the new crap they have realised.

The superior system could have been put back onto tranquility by now.

Instead, we will have weekly updates for the next 2 months as they slowly make the new system into the old system.

They broke it, and yet you think we should put up with this crap?

If CCP had put the old system back a week ago I would be cheering them, as it is I think they are stubborn idiots who deserve all the abuse they get.

I like the missile effects. But as for this inventory thing, all i know is that ive played with bunch of players for several years, two of them who have been with game since 2003, and now they are planning or have quit. The only reason is the hassle of your inventory . Sad

ok ..I just need to know where o where can I complain about this horrible inventory ....that I have to constantly clicking on for everything shift click, shift click , shift click ... why has some one plagued us with this inventory madness ...it was perfect how it was ... now it's more work and not user friendly....

menu shift click... to transfer items shift click and shift click ...to come back to station and switch ships ..shift click ... .....madness nothing permanent it all goes back to the main inventory and shift click to get it moved again......(shift click is to separate menus ) you cannot move higher or even shift move items for lower quantities unless you have the menus separated ..... madness (constant menu separations)

More iterated Feedback:

Please for the love of all that is sacred...can i be allowed to close the 'space' inventory w/o it effecting the state of the 'station' one...

ie...i undock, i shift-click-wthisthisfor my ships cargo to a much much (did i say much) smaller and useable window and put it to the side...since i don't need the main window that shows the exact same thing as my cargo window does...i click 'close'...i do my things...i redock....where did my 'station' inventory go? Oh, wait, i closed the 'space' one so now i have to close every singe window i had previously shift-clicked open, then i can click the 'inventory' button and again have my regular 'station' window...

Please fix this.

I want my station hanger to always start 'open' regardless of the state of the larger 'space' version...b/c guess what, while in space, i only use the Unworking Insanity while at a POS, and it is a mucho paint in the buttocks...

Are these new persistent smaller windows going to be persistent with POS use? ore are we stuck with the Craptastic new-brokeness for POS management?

Also, will it continue to be possible to open as many instances of my ships cargo hold as i can until my PC crashes?

Again, this was asked for while it was still on SiSi, in the Pre-Alpha state before you gave us the Alpha version to test on TQ...(why did you ignore?)

Inventory is still Craptastic. Another patch and still none of the things we requested to make this steaming pile of crap work properly were implemented. CCP you guys are just complete fail. When will you FINALLY IMPLEMENT THE CHANGES WE WANT TO GET THIS HUNK OF CRAP WORKING PROPERLY?????????????????????

This is just ridiculous, you are blatantly ignoring suggestions that actually will streamline this hunk of garbage you call an inventory system. Can't wait for Mechwarrior to come online. I guarantee their inventory isn't going to be as useless as this hunk of garbage you jammed down our throats.

As outlined here, Unified Inventory changes will come out in tomorrow's patch.
