I personally look forward to Tengugeddon that will redress the balance of risk/reward for highsec missions

Some of the mission running ships drop really nice stuff too.

Are Tengus or Raven Navy Issues the current favorite now? Or golems?

I don't know, but Tengugeddon rolls off the tongue better than Golemageddon or CaldariNavyRavengeddon

Yeah, nothing for goons to do now. I wish that perhaps there were still massive regions of space inhabited by the russians that they could fight, but alas, not so.

Today, the indefinite Hulkageddon was announced. It's a pretty good deal - kill ten exhumers and get 100M ISK. An enterprising ganker could make quite a good deal of money doing this.

And the wailing and gnashing of teeth rises from the carebear community. "Why?" they ask.

I'll tell you why.

Goonswarm is a militaristic empire. There have been many such empires in recent times, and there are a few in existence in the modern world. All of these militaristic empires have one thing in common, and Goonswarm, while a virtual empire, is no exception. The need for a common enemy.

When Goonswarm was new in EVE, it had an enemy - the infamous Band of Brothers. The fight to overwhelm this massive metagaming alliance caused Goonswarm to become a tougher, meaner, more unified fighting force. In order to shore up its support, Goonswarm used James 315 as the primary author of anti-BoB forum postings. Of course, as a game, they enjoyed dismantling BoB very much. For a while, the struggle continued, until Goonswarm finally overcame their enemy.

Then, they needed a new enemy. After a few campaigns, conquests, and victories, Goonswarm managed to secure its position in the Technetium-rich northern regions. This is the situation we find the universe in now. No major power is left that would be worth fighting for Goonswarm.

This is when militaristic empires begin to crumble.

Therefore, a new enemy was needed. A new cause had to be taken up. A new crusade had to be called.

Goonswarm had a nice run with the Gallente ice interdiction, but it was far too minor to last for long. Something more drastic had to be thought up.

Goonswarm's great cheerleader, James 315, answered the call yet again. And so he began writing his 'manifestos'.

With vitriol reminiscent of a 1930s dictator, James 315 singled out the so-called 'cancer of EVE' - the hisec carebear. Specifically, miners. Whether they were bots or not, it did not matter. The enemy had been declared.

And so we find ourselves in the current situation. Goonswarm and its allies have declared all-out war against hisec. Not necessarily because they're a bunch of neckbeards and jerks, but for a two-cold practical reason. Goonswarm profits economically, and Goonswarm manages to keep its militaristic empire together.

This is why Goonswarm has declared war against hisec carebears.

And for all you short-attention span kids:

  • Goonswarm is a militaristic empire. Militaristic empires need someone to fight or they will decay.
  • Goonswarm had defeated their old enemies and had no major enemies to fight.
  • Hisec was as big an enemy as could possibly be imagined.
  • There are also economic incentives for this assault on hisec.

So were all supposed to bend over and take it up the ass and pity the 'warrior who has no enemies'? Goonswarm may be king in there own minds but there nothing but an annoyance to the rest of us. Sounds more like they are the cancer. A massive force overwhelming and taking down power after power only to go ravenously searching for another target.

If goonswarm really wants something constructive to do they could just as easily merc themselves out for protection and fighting other peoples wars, but instead there picking on the peaceful, calling them weak and cancer as justification. Sounds awfully N-a-z-i (Apparently you cant use the name of one of the nastiest cancers to run amok across the world on a german based forum site, why am I not surprised? Lets keep hiding it and maybe people will forget history and repeat it, right? Also, for the record, I wasnt calling anyone a Nazi, I simply referring to them, sad that even that's not allowed.) Regimest to me to consider anything different in a way you dont like a cancer that needs to be removed from the game. Go ahead, remove this cancer from the game, then we'll get to listen to them cry and throw tizzy fits as the game falls apart with no miners to provide materials to build there war machines.

I think it would be truely ironic and karmic if they we're forced to do there own mining in fact. They say, 'Pity the warrior who conquered all his enemies." You'll get no pity from me. They also say that the amount of power you have is not nearly as important as how you use it. Well, clearly, there is too much power in the hands of infants without the maturity to wield it properly.

I would suggest merc'ing, protection services, even hostile territory takeovers and defense for other corporations could keep goonswarm and there similar counter parts busy enough to continue having fun in the game, but nah, lets 'pick on the peacebears, lets flaunt our power, let's act like a bunch of dictators who have to fabricate enemies to kill cus we got nothing better to do . . . Mittani is basically spacejesus. He was banned for our sins, and now he has returned to judge our gamer's souls. The worthy will be raptured with him into a sandbox of pure joy.

Well yeh Goonies aren't foolish do think all their numbers are PvP'rs, NOT.
Like most Null alliances they have a large contingent of carebears to support them.
Oh wait they don't call them that cause they live in 0.0.
Trust me Null carebears are safer then then the ones in High-sec (and get payed 10 times as well) LolLolLol

Make high-sec T1 only. Move invention out of npc stations to pos only. Move pos out of high-sec. Possibly even T1 barges. If they were meant to be in high-sec their BPO's would've been seeded there. Fixed. Your welcome.

That said, I spend time happily making money, dodging all the reds of course (gotta take steps to protect myself, you know) and generally having fun on forums via topics. Like this one!

Yes, and all the smart highsec miners like myself will continue to make ever more money as the mineral prices rise and you kill my competition. thank you

When you civilize all of 0.0 you have to fight somewhere. Goons have made the game boring for themselves.
lol ppl should make it even worse and everyone go to 0.0 so there are no targets but those in the starter systems.

What you guys do when there are no miners to gank?

Pretty funny when Goons are doing CCP's work for them tho lol
How do you force the carebears into 0.0?

If you really want to not be bored and want a whole bunch of explosions how about not setting half the subscribers blue? When the two biggest alliances in the game set each other blue plus many other alliances, of course you aren't going to have anything to shoot...

When I was a kid my mom bought me a game-genie for my sega, and I was like what the hell is this crap?! I was like 7 and I was saying to myself why type of person wants to play a game but first take out all the challenge? I just couldn't understand who would want to use such an awful thing. Now that I am older I understand, game-genie was made for future goons.

Edit: Hulkageddon is awesome! Goons still suck, grow some balls and get some enemies. Also quit telling people to HTFU on the forums, you are soft as a used tampon, every last goon.

You're talking out of your butt.

For too long the lazy null sec 20% have denied that there is genuine risk for reward in high sec.. Because there are so many high sec miners they think there must not be any risk; they are wrong of course.. it's always been the case that there was risk..

What they've done here however is turned the model on it's head, making the risk much higher in high sec than the reward will ever be worth. The null sec CSM has effectively gutted high sec profits through a nerf campaign for the last few years.

but go ahead and be a fan boy.. it's funny seeing people who haven't a clue drool all over themselves over this announcement.

That's complete rubbish. The rewards aren't that great, certainly not as good as null. A bit hypocritical of you to mine those moons and then come here and talk about risk v reward. The funny thing is you've raised the prices of both exhumers (good for high-sec inventors) and minerals (good for high-sec miners). So although there are fewer mining, those that continue to do it will be making even more than they did before. And of course anything you buy from the market and don't make yourselves is going to be a lot more expensive as a result.
