The OP, apparently.
TQ is an even playing field, and he doesn't want to take play on it.

Why? this will split the playerbase, lowsec/null will become even more of a desert, will create more issues on the server side to deal with the splitting etc, etc. Want to play on another server, join the Chinese one.

One of the selling points and main points. ONE server ONE universe or have I missed something?

Don't neglect to see why growth of eve has been in steady state and decline, which makes your use of "selling point" redundant.

Growth does not form deserts.

"ONE server ONE universe or have I missed something?" Yes the test server and chinese server both undermine this.

The idea that eve is not an even playing ground is a fallacy. You can achieve anything that anyone else has achieved. You just need to spend as much time and effort as them. That you would ask for a new server tells me that even if you got it, you'd be as irrelevant on the new one as you do on the old.

However, its not going to happen for two reasons:

1. Eves biggest tagline is one persistent world, and its biggest asset is its unified community. Stating that the reason eves playerbase is declining is because its a single world is drawing a very long bow. You have no proof to back that assertion up.

Which brings us to my favorite latin phrase:

quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur

"what is asserted without reason may be denied without reason"

If you give me no proof when you say its the single shard thats lowering subscriptions, I need no proof to tell you you are wrong.

It could possibly be the lack of bugfixes and improvements and complete stagnation for two years, or anything Roll

Secondly, setting up a second server would cost a lot of money, something CCP is allegedly short on right now.

Eve sub drop or even eve small number of subs in the first place is down to a lot of reasons ofc, one of the main reasons is the executions of their ideas. I'm not working for CCP so im not going to show you spreadsheets and market research on people reasons of not persisting of playing the game be it after a patch or the first month of playing.

If you did read what i put, these are also some of the reasons of it, patches over patches over patches after 8 years make for a crooked building, that shows signs of flaws and unbalances, but patches that change game mechanics in a 1 time mmo environment, it creates an unbalance for the old and for the new. The only way the one world thing would ever work for efficiency and for a game that is so competitive based on tiny changes to mechanics and fuelled by isk is for in a one server MMO format to perfect the mechanics first then to never change them in patches, which is what a new server could be subject to.

Tagline is redundant now with the way players use the test server and the Chinese server.

You talk much, but you say nothing. If you actually have a point to make you are terrible at making it. That up there is grade A horse turd. Give me PROOF that the decline in subscribers is directly and irrefutably linked to the single server environment, or stop posting.

Also, please structure your sentences correctly.

I don't think OP reaizes they destroyed their own post, by admitting there are probably tons of other reasons why the subs dropped.

As for the persistent world being a selling point, it IS the main one, everyone i know who plays EVE will admit to joining for one of 2 reasons
1) the complexity
2) Single persistent world
and as far as i can tell, half the games complexity comes from the single server, since it FORCES players to be competitive or die.

as far as the test server / chinese server, china has their own dedicated server for alot fo agmes, some its because of their masssive population that the players may unify and dominate the agme, otgher times it is because their governemnt is a B****.
the test server is because it is a TEST server, so they can implement ideas into a controlled space without accidentaly effecting the rest of the game while they try to work out the bugs.

sisi is a test server, it's like a firewall for bad ideas and bugs so they dont come onto the real server. as for the china server they added that for a reason i forgot because i lost they article they explained it in. i think it was something about bots?

buy a character if you want sp, otherwise you can actually play to get isk, buy a plex, get some implants, and wait for some sp. problem solved!

The chinese version of eve basically strips everything about amarrians out, mongrels the gallente, and turned the caldari into communist who like red more than blue.

No. It's because the Chinese government...
- requires that all games played within its borders be laced with "spyware security" to monitor its citizens...
-- which is to keep track of how much time its citizens play games (seriously, the Chinese government says you can only play X amount of hours per day)...
-- so it can monitor all the chat channels for "subversive content" and/or "information"...
-- it knows who is playing, when they are playing, and where they are playing...
- doesn't like certain content and requires that things be made PC according to their values...
- doesn't want us westerners to mingle with its "loyal citizens" and "taint them with corrupt values"...
- has a myriad of laws and regulations that just make it a pain in the ass to connect the local populations with groups abroad.

edit:

Almost forgot... "No" to the OP's idea. It just makes all the time and effort that people put into the game moot and breeds resentment among anyone who actually accomplishes anything tangible.
It's also creates a scenario where people will come to expect that a "new server" be created each time there is an "imbalance" (see: each time a group or two achieves "superiority" over everyone else).

I'm thinking that this isn't very practical.. first because it doubles the resourses used.. when it would be nice to think the resourses would be better used on the current gaming interation. second, it's splits the user base.. which this may not seem like a bad thing to some.. it would certainly effect the markets having fewer people participate.. third, don't we already have a test server? couldn't you use that as you back up server.. minus some of the pvp of course.

I'd hate to see CCP spend load of money on this for very little return.

I have an account on Serenity ( Chinese Server ) its great fun but fully language translated so helping me study Mandarin.
There are time limits on how much you can play for health reasons as too many young chinese boys were doing bad at school due to online games ( not EvE its tiny here ) so the government put a rule on all online games to 5 hours of play in every 24hr period so you can play for a solid 10 hours if you put midnight in the middle.
( Skills / POS times e,t,c still run as normal ... Time Dilation would be a disaster Big smile )

The rest of the stuff above about government censorship is not true.

Its fun to play on a different server and was fun making my first 5 Million ISK again.
I think the biggest difference is no T2 BPOs , that I can see , so that means a more level playing field nobody can create monopolies and all T2 must come from invention and creation of low run BPC. There is no T3 yet the server is very far behind in terms of versions and features ... its not even run by CCP a chinese company hosts and buys the patches / updates.

That could be something CCP should take care of!
Their argument "oh, it's not that bad on market" is no argument at all.
It's a clear advantage for the T2 BPO holders and that should not be.
So, yes, CCP should remove them and hand out some research points to the owners.

I agree or make all current T2 BPO into BPC with 999 runs and decent ME / TE then at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel and this problem will be resolved in about a year or so.

There are some real mathmateicaned t2 bpo researchers that did the number crunching and found out that invention is currently cheaper and that the money time and skills invested in t2bpos wont pay for themselves anytime soon.

Also what people (and what really determines that those who cry over tech 2 bpos dont know what they're talking about) also need to understand that tech 2 bpo research is just as bad as capitol ship bpo research, the number of item reduction isnt all that great over the many levels. even at me 1000 your looking at removeing 1 or 2 items becuase how few of them there are verses the tech 1 bpos which have millions of items to reduce from instead of 10-20 items.

Huh? Some of the T2 BPO horders since 2006 are considered the richest in the game. Are you saying if your lucky enough to play the game since long enough ago and notice flaws in the game which will be taken away for future players in patches deserve it? ok :).

Not true ... its scale and all the background stuff that makes the advantage ... consider the idea that I want to make 10,000 Conflagration Large Advanced Pulse Laser Crystals

Without the BPO the Invention slots, time finding a station or even building a POS in safe / non-safe space e.t.c is so long winded and expensive I simply can not compete when they only sell for around 1.2 Million ISK each ... This is where the money is and where the 2006 players just rake it in .... low level T2 BPO's that just make small amount hundreds of times a day on products that expire such as ammo.

This is a little off topic now to a "fresh start" and I am not saying its a fix for everything but making changes to the game that remove monopolies but still give the people with the monopolies potentially years notice to adjust, has to be good for younger newer players going forward.... and this is coming from a 2006 player Big smile

I think ammo is the only real quantifiable advantage with the BPOs but items like ships you can only build so many at once and the materials saved from advanced ME isnt noticable beyond lvl 10 until around what 100?
