"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." - 1 Corinthians 13:11

That passage always springs to mind when I hear about adults quitting videogames. All I can say is I hope I never grow up (happily married, father, breadwinner, proud gamer and balanced individual fyi).

Stop dicking about with CTAs and inanimate structures in 0.0 and go shoot people in lowsec / FW / RvB. Gratz on the kids. Kids rock.

Find a better alliance, play in npc null, play in lowsec, play in hisec

...or of course start a meandering whine thread on general discussion

it's funny how so many "mature adults" feel that the grown-up and responsible thing to do is come to a video game forum to cry like little bitches because not everything goes exactly the way they want it to.

Did you know you can estimate the age of a forum poster by counting the ammount of times the profanity filter kicks in, just saying...

but you can't

once you're like...25 ish, it really doesn't matter how old you are, but rather how you choose to live your life, expose yourself to new ideas, and learn from your experiences.

age is a crutch stupid people use to make excuses why they're right in the place of actual valid arguments

you are a ******* crybaby who can't do one small slice of the game, so comes here to cry about it as if anyone should care

Join FW. Fun fights, mostly good natured trolling and people are always happy to have any time and help you can spare without demanding too much.

Join Amarr though please, they need some additional numbers.

Oh, and if you are worried about ISK, one nights work will cover your plex.

I do not worry about ISK, although I hate the mining and ratting.. trading is not my thing though..

While I do like how people come up with good ideas like WH or FW, thing is I (like many others) like to play with (ingame) friends... they arent really up for WH's or FW Blink

I am sure I will come back after 6 months orso if new gameplay is introduced. I hope CCP will do something about 0.0 and make it more dynamic, suited for all kinds of people and playstyles..

Here it's similar. I am father of two sons at 5 and 7. I am CEO of an animation studio. I have a good social life - thanks to my wife and kids. I am doing sports for three hours three times a week. So now ask me: when do you have time to play EVE? Well, in between mostly under heavy wife and kids aggro ofc. Especially when one hour nothing happened and then you start a fight. Big smile Over the week EVE is running passively at my office for chatting or logistics mainly depending on my daily tasks. My prime time is late night what is definitely unhealthy over the years. At the weekend family and life comes first. I don't stress myself if I can't play EVE. But when I am at home I want to.

That's one major reason why I can't join fleets much or can't TS alot. Beeing online here is more staying semi-afk than permanently active. My house has paperthin walls and I am playing in our living room. My wife tolerates my hobby but she hates EVE because I am looking like a tedious nerd at the PC most of the time at home. As someone who's playing computer games since the 80th it's the most time consuming and addicting game I ever played. It's senseless to explain why EVE isn't a pause, save and load game and why I can't just come to dinner NOW when I am tackled.

I ran into PvP in 2007 and decided 2008 to skill another account for dual-boxing. That was the only way for me to roam and do PvP "solo" most of the time and join fleets or ops randomly if it's possible. A lot of people hate Falcon- or booster-alts but that's EVE anyway these days where you face bigger fleets with logistics anytime. You run into so many nerds with a huge amount of spare time camping, blobbing, roaming daily like crazy... so why waste my limited time by running blind from gate to gate just to feed a fleet of 24/7 nerds with my shiny faction loot?

At the end you need to accept that this game is not made for the people with much RL and responsibilities. EVE can be 80% boredom for 20% awesomeness. I know that the day will come where EVE will come to an end for me. But meanwhile I am trying to enjoy it because I still want to play it.

Join FW. It's a bit like "compressed 0.0" in low-sec with small-scale fights, no cluster-frakks, time by time bigger fleet fights ofc and less risk to end up in 100% carebearing but options for a good income. The actual changes with LP's for killing and capturing are nice.

If you like to share some experience or ideas how to deal with EVIL-Online LIKE A DAD feel free to convo me ingame. Cool

Meandering whine threads are the best threads to find in general discussion.

I did not return as a father, I became one while I had an active sub. But I did quit playing 1.5 years ago due to the same issues. It seems these issues still exist for me and wanted to share them. I doubt I am the only one and I like to see others to speak up who are in the same position..

edit: My daughters are 3 and 5 years old.. and about the age of 2 they refuse to put on any shoe you bought for them if it wasn't her choice ;)

Greetings

Great job on the kids and family, but did we really need another OP about how your lack of creativity and incentive, keeps you from driving your own EVE experience. It amazes me how people complain about a game where you can do anything you want within the game world and some how this comes out as "this sucks".

Instead of whining, figure it out. I am not going to give examples here because, like raising children it is important for people to be self-motivated and figure things out for themselves. I will start you in the right direction.

Log-in, pick ship you are willing to lose, insure ship, load with ammo, open galaxy map, pick random system, make destination, hit undock, go until something happens or you make something happen.

I read that passage and thought "An adult wouldn't have bothered creating the same old tired "I'm leaving" post on a video game forum, they would have just called it good."

This sort of thread is a plea for attention, nothing more.

good luck then..... i'm not so brave and crazy to allow these freedom FROM CHILDHOOD Shocked

Anyway: yesterday i came home from office, logged into game and found active roaming fleet. 2 hours after we visited HED-GP, got lots of kills and fun and finished. Someone (include myself) even returned with loot Cool

Previous week i spent like yesterday's evening. 1-2 hours a day - isn't it too much for you? And i'm in 0.0 as you can see.

Mine has 19 now and sometimes plays my second account, guess what !

He found funny to blow my hulk at the belt !! -What tha...., pvp at home (words of course, we're in 2012), this is probably the stuff that gave me the biggest laugh (after) in Eve Lol

living in null too, there's a lot of good stuff to do in about 1h or two provided your corp/alliance mates are not just ass pubbies that never see the sun. And sometimes is enough to do important stuff, like home defence or haulers escort, intell etc.

Change the game for "everyone" to accomodate those who made different life choices? Um no.... You made your choice and now can't live with the way the EVE world works but it should change for you? I think not. And at 55 years old, I do just fine in EVE the way it is...Older doesn't have anything to do with it...
