Well, this is the end of the road for me. I resubbed 2 months ago to help out friends to reach an old goal and to see what EVE has become after 1.5 years. What I found was the same “All or nothing” time investment in EVE, especially in the 0.0 regions where I have been from 2005 till now.

As I cannot invest the same amount of time like in 2005, due to becoming father of 2 kids.. I need smaller goals which I can reach in my own time and pace. But the reality is that the EVE gameplay mechanics did not change, it is still the “all or nothing” deal. Roams and CTA’s begin before the kids are in bed and end when I should be in bed 2 hours ago. There is often no way to catch up with the fleet or logout somewhere in random 0.0 space as you will die on the way back the next day.

Still the strict fleets, mandatory ship types being called for, no ships what I find fun to fly. From an alliance point of view, strict fleets is a must or you will lose wars.

There is still no meaningful PVP targets that can make a profit for a PVP’er, like raid able posses or even stations. Which are doable with little PVP fleets and do not need the 250+ fleets!
It is a shame really, I find the 0.0 politics great reading but even more being part of it. Yet my increasing age, and with it increased duties, prevents me to play EVE the way it should be played: All or nothing.

I hoped CCP would change the gameplay to cater the ever changing player base, we are still the same people we just grew older!

Why does it have to be pvp? Despite what some people say; EVE is not and will never be exclusively shoot-at-pixels.

Can I has your stuff?

But seriously there will be fleet compositions that alliances deem to be strongest, and whilst there might be little variation in them, you can always do some solo PVP? or small gang warfare? lowsec warfare? You can have a lot of fun in a small gangs flying whatever you want. Find a group of people who are casual enough to let you play how you want.

But can I has your stuff anyway? :3

Find a better alliance.

And part of growing up it realizing what you could do in your 20's just might not be possible any more.

Maybe you should look for another alliance with active players in Australia or Pacific timezones.
The US timezone targeted fleet ops have been a pain for me too.

So true.. if I knew then what I know now I Roll

But serious.. so little has changed, gameplay wise. I miss true innovation and vision.I still camp gates, like in 2005. I still shoot structues with impossible ammounts of HP. Ability to fill systems still wins wars.. Still no need to defend against invaders, just dock up.

Thinking of it, the "All of nothing" deal is also the core thing with PVP. Or the ship 100% or is dead.. Or the pos is 100% or is destroyed.. there is no middleground... no way to recover a wreck and repair it. No way to inflict "small damage" like stealing stuff..

Where is the "durability" for ships and mods, which cannot be repaired.. why are there still gates in 0.0? Remove them and give every ship a jumpdrive.. etc.. innovate! Not just little tweaks here and there!

99% of the gameplay is dictated by players. Take it up with them.

Remember they tried that by increasing the hp's of all the ships.
Giant stink because the battles lasted to long and some ended in a stale mate.
Instant gratification croud hated it.
Granted it would have effected the economy as well, so it never made it past the test server.
I think things would have stabilized but so be it, that time has long sense passed.

Actualy I really thought about it.. thats the one thing I never did.. first time for me in a WH was 2 weeks ago to close it down... lolz.. But I expect WH's need even more commitment then 0.0 sov holding alliances.

So, as you used CTA and PVP in the same sentence I'm guessing you're in some ridiculous snoozefest sov holding alliance. 250 man fleets aren't fun and it's not real PVP, join a smallgang PVP alliance who base out of NPC nullsec, or even lowsec. No CTA's, less strict ship requirements usually. Small gang PVP is exciting and it actually requires you to use your brain, as there's no sov to worry about or structures that need bashing, it tends to be alot more laid back.

Damn nature, you scary!

All else aside, congrats on the children Big smile I am a mother of two and there is nothing more rewarding, though at times it seems like a new form of pvp.

Lowsec really is the option for those that have to leave fleet at a minutes notice.

you dont have to worry about where you are when you have to go dock up.
Fights dont go on for hours
No bubbles makes moving your ship around a bit easier

Its just all round more casual, log in, shoot stuff, log off

PvB - Parent versus Brat(s).

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.
