a module like a "mobile warp disruptor" but it will uncloak a ship that will get in range

No. Kills the genuine reason for having cloaks in the game... travel and sneaking up on victims.

What you are suggesting will relegate cloaks to being useful only for AFK camping nulsec systems. And we all know how bitter a lot of people are about that.

Cloaking doesn't need a nerf.

Mobile Warp Disruptor with a couple of drone boats will do the same thing.

Cloaking is working as intended.

no, it's a bad idea.. not only is it redundant but it opens the door to abuses in the future depending on what devs decide to do with range over the years.. sorry but the idea was not a good one before when it was suggested and still isn't now.

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

You have tunnel vision lol. The true reason is steath. If that means sneaking up on prey so be it but just as often it means sneaking around agressive hunters or gate camps.

to make this work first cloaks will need to be switched to a cycle insted of a perma-on modual

second your ship would need a stealth rating certain things would need to be takke in to account to generat you stealt rating such as.
your ship type
your sig size
your skills such as covert ops
your equipped cloak modual
the range (closer they are to you higher chance of braking cloak) from ship with decloaky thingy (i propose the name "spatial refraction scanner" )
their skills
their sensor strength
meta lvl of spatial refraction scanner
it could have a range around around 20-40 km based on skills ofc

also i could have a cool holo sphere animation that all on grid could see so cloaked ships would know to gtfback

you wold take all these variables and come up with a formula that would give you your %chance to decloak ships

it s a great idea might make things more interesting for cloakies

2000 actually. Hence the whole "you fail to jump because you are cloaked".

The only useful cloak disruptor I could see would be a POS module that, when activated, disrupts cloaking system-wide for a certain period of time (or even just disable cloaks and force them to be reactivated merely to combat an AFK presence in a system that nobody can do anything about).

Yes, because covert ops ships with paper-thin tanks, mediocre propulsion, and marginal offensive capabilities need to be nerfed by allowing gate campers to negate their one real defensive advantage.
