I'd like to train a Tengu, got my torp skills well covered, but then saw fits for Tengu, and theyre all Heavy Missile Launchers :(

Can Tengus fit Torp Launchers by any chance, or do I have to wait two weeks to train Heavy Missiles Shocked

. . . Well, if this is serious, no, a Tengu generally cannot fit torp launchers in normal operation. Notice how the bonuses for the ship say heavy missiles? That suggests you probably shouldn't be fitting torps. On the other hand, Tengu's can fit the cruiser sized version of Torps, Assault Missiles.

Frankly, if you're asking this question, you shouldn't be flying a tengu. Do some research. If you want to use torps, get a stealthbomber.

Does look like I need more research into tengus, pity all that time needed to train heavy assaults when I gots good torp skills ....

Perhaps you need to look more into weapon classes and ship classes.

Tengus are cruisers.
Torpedoes are battleship class weapons (only non BS ship that can fit them are bombers)
In the medium (cruiser) missile category, you have Heavy missiles, Heavy Assault Missiles and light missiles (with the Rapid Light Missile Launcher). The first 2 are your weapons for killing cruisers and above, while the last one is if you are trying to build an anti-frigate ship. Nearly every good fit for a tengu is going to use the HMLs.

Now if you want a smaller ship and have good torp skills, look at the Manticore. It's a stealth bomber, so it is a frigate classed ship, but can carry 3 torp launchers, but gets nice range and damage bonuses. It can also fit a covert ops cloaks a bomb launchers.

Err ... heavy assault missiles are bad enough (and those work just fine for a Tengu), by switching to torpedoes (and a ship that can actually fit them) you'd gain an awful lot of paper DPS, but no range and you'd lose almost all of your damage application since torpedoes have trouble hitting a BS for full damage even if it's sitting still.

If you want torpedoes, fly a Golem or a stealth bomber.

If you want to find out just how much unguided missiles suck: Tengu with HAMs can get close to 1000 dps .. on paper.

I'm afraid that two weeks isn't long at all to wait. If you actually have good torp skills then just recall how long all those supports took, and at least they'll all carry over.

And yes, go heavy missiles over heavy assault missiles unless you're specifically training into a Sacrilege or HAM Legion. Heavies are better under pretty much every other circumstance.

I'd rather like to have a "Bombardment" sub than command one.

5 bomb launchers, can fit Cover Ops Cloacking device, Cyno and Covert Cyno

Available all races of course Lol

Folks -- such as Harari up there, stop posting if you aren't going to bother to assist.

To the Original Poster; Strategic Cruisers are still cruisers, therefore they generally are still meant to use Cruiser-sized weapon modules. Do note though, that the Tengu is INCREDIBLY effective as mission-running, and can often outdo battleships with less training. It shouldn't take long (maybe a month? I can't remember for sure) to maximize the Strategic Cruiser specific skill for each sub-system.

The key when preparing for level four missions is to not think of the Tengu as a slow and ponderous beast like say... a Raven would be.

Tengus are fast (for Caldari) and fast hitting. Go with the Accelerated Ejection Bay, and the rest should mentally line itself up from there for you.

You criticize others for not constructively posting but you sir are so monumentously off topic that you dont even mention the word torpedo or siege launcher even once in your post, which was obvious the topic of the OP. I call troll on you!
