All they have to do is make scrapping much more difficult to acheive and we'd solve the miner being bottom feeders at least.

Players have been killing miners since 2003, and they are still here. If it's profitable enough, people will do it no matter what. So while gankers may kill miners, it are the mining bots that actually threaten the profession itself.

But if you make it harder to find you by mining in a remote backwater system, combined by mining in missions or gravi sites. And you make it harder to surprise you by adding prolific gankers as contacts and keeping an eye out for combat probes and suspicious ship-types. And you make it harder to gank your ships by adding a T3 booster some Logi-support to the mining fleet and tanking the hulks (or even go back to mine-apocs).

Combine these all and miners simply won't lose enough ships to keep them in the red. But the min-maxing obsession of most miners makes them always try to squeeze out more yield at the cost of safety. That's what really killing them.

These fits and the one above are useless and only provide for some good loot for gankers.

I have tested an alt of mine both in max yield + cargo Hulk and covetor and the cheap-o T1 version only loses 14-15% yeld over the similarly fitted max yield Hulk.

The fittings above (expecially the first) lose on yield so you end up spending multiple times more than a throwaway covetor, are a much juicier target and mine same if not worse. No deal.

Actually, this is possibly one of the best reasons to remove mining.
It would restore titans at being "2 per major alliance" assets instead of being spammable ships for everyday's PvP.

It's simple. If no one will mine anymore then profession will be "removed" from the game. What you are asking is forcing mining removal by changing game mechanics. No.

I do not want to see this, but since the outcry of hulkaggedon(however you spell it), and the response of players.

Do we really need this profession? Miners seem to be the primary targets in hi/low/null sec by other players, the rewards compared to any other profession are terrible.

If they removed mining they'd remove the only stuff left in game that:

- may be killed by the terribles who really believe they are PvPing and that an Hulk killmail is as good for a killboard as is having a carrier kill.

- populates the forums. Apart from the current UI threads, the forums would be dead without miners crying and "PvPers" gloating over them.

- populate hi sec. Without miners dying, all that would happen would be some suicide ganking at Uedama / Sivala etc. and some booooooring POS bashing.

Basically EvE is so flat and boring that without some muppets to kill and pretend something is still going on, then people would realize all what's left to do is to go in 0.0...

... only to meet a NAP fest.

Why make it so complicated when this can be solved simply?

Remove mining, remove loot reprocessing.

CCP can make minerals NPC stuff, all you have to do is buy those with isk/plex.

Aint this good? Lol

The day they remove mining, or any other play style for that matter, is the day they kill the sandbox.

Corp mate got done this w/e in his hulk and in my opinion thats life. If this wasnt a part of the game then EVE wouldnt be the sandbox it is so you suck it up and carry on IMHO.

I know the dangers when I log in , I dont bot , I just enjoy making a bit of cash and doing stuff with corp mates dont take that away form me its what I do . If I get ganked thats life and part of the game, learn and carry on.

I tihink miners moaning about being ganked is pathetic learn and do something about it . I have come back to EVE after many MMos and the reson I have come back is because traditional MMos are bloody boreing no risk no conciquence . Dont wish that on EVE its a terrible way to play online games .

Consider that most miner players have mulitple accounts, I think that CCP would be making a terrible business decision and reduce their own income by removing or altering the profession. I do believe that hulks should not be so easily gankable, if people want to kill miners then let them use the war dec system to declare war, which also gives miners a chance to fight back, which is an option they don't currently have. (fx: combat ships in a war dec situation approaching a hulk can be engaged by other combat vessels in the targets corp or alliance). More gankproof hulks equals better pvp in my opinion.

I really don't get why you empire miners don't just go mine in lowsec or nullsec where you can at least manage the risk by getting safe whenever any neutral enters local.

Or why don't you at least manage your risk by flying a cheap coveter instead of a hulk?

Or I dunno, maybe TANK your hulks as that's what they're for.

But no... instead of doing any of those things you mine in highsec where there are dozens of neutrals in local and any one of them could be a suicide ganker who can pop your untanked hulks with a couple of catalysts. Why? Because you don't want to have to pay any attention to Eve or work with other players? Hey, how about playing a single player game instead?

Instead of adapting to changing conditions you just whine and bleat like impotent self-entitled children. You have no sympathy from me, you are dumb and you deserve to die.

Ancillary shield boosters ?
Hey CCP, make it so those dudes can fit at least some large ancillary booster stuff on their expensive flying wreck, would make it fun and challenging for gankers, and that's what they like those gankers, challenge.

amirite? Lol

Continuing the Alliance Tournament...

Soundwave: "Ummm, that was a pretty good match."

Kil2: "Yea, though it was close for a while, I knew that Highly Popular was going to beat Nobody Important."

Verone: "Well, it seemed Nobody Important had the edge but suddenly... it seemed the game paused. When it resumed, suddenly Nobody Important had one ship left and Highly Popular had their whole fleet again?"

Soundwave: "Yea, ummm what an awesome match! Ummm, anyone see the alliance tournament cat?"

Verone: "It ran off..."

Kil2: "...when you started talking about how awesome you are Soundwave."

Soundwave: "Ummm, speaking of awesome, ummm, I have another awesome idea I am going to share. But ummm, let me check the forums first." Soundwave reads a huge outcry about the last match potentially being fixed by a time dilation bug being one-sided. "Ummm, not too much going on there so ummm onward to my awesome idea."

Both Kil2 and Verone appear disinterested.

Soundwave: "Ummm, after the successful reduction of data cores from those broken research agents ummm to Factional Warfare, we created another ummm awesome idea!" Soundwave pauses and stares into the camera for affect. "CCP Doesnotplaythegame and I have ummm not decided whether to double the timers for ummm miner lasers and stuff or half the extraction per cycle."

Kil2: "Say what?"

Soundwave stares deeper into the camera before continuing, "Ummm or do both!"

Verone: "You want to break the foundation for the whole game?"

Soundwave: "Oh no, no ummm you see, we're moving part of ummm the mining mineral piles to be bought with Factional Warfare loyalty points!"

Kil2: "Say what?"

Soundwave: "Ummm it will be so awesome! Ummm, the perfect cycle - destroy ships, get loyalty points, purchase minerals to destroy more ships - so awesome! Verone, as ummm a low sec pirate, you should love it!"

Verone: "But what about players that are miners and their skills invested?"

Soundwave: "Errr... who care? Ummm, I see the clock on the wall says our next match is about to start, so ummm, let's get right into it!"

The cameraman, a mining player in the game, twists the camera to stare at the ceiling and follows in the footsteps of the alliance tournament cat.

A tongue-in-cheek continuation of this post I did during the discussion of reducing daily data core research points and moving them into Factional Warfare loyalty point stores. Since mining as a whole seems to have a negative connotation attached to it, I spoofed how CCP may just plan on fixing mining _and_ making Factional Warfare even more promising.

Mining could receive a boost to make it more attractive. In fact needs several finely tuned boosts.

For starters I think low sec should have high end minerals, otherwise you will NEVER EVER see miners there.

Second add a new mining laser module and a strip miner of same type. This new module would use a new mining technology that produces too many toxic debris in space therefore its banned in high sec.

Make this new banned in high sec mining module set be 50% more efficient than current miners.
