Space is big for a missile.

Train your skills to increase their velocity, if you think it should be instant damage immediately after firing, You have bigger issues than missiles.

Aerodynamic, Mach x, submarine...

what's the point anyway ?

On our beloved Earth, There are missiles not citadel sized which can press the "nature reset" button on a vast area.
N-U-K-E.
and we're only in 2012.

It's crystal clear Missiles in Eve will NEVER ever looks like the one you'll (not) see in hundreds years.
I'm ok for Railgun(Halo style), Autcannons (BSG style), Lasers ( Engage that Borg ffs ! ) but it's utterly false with missile.
Unless the vacuum of space in in fact Etherum, like in 1500's.

They can start fix that by inserting a big red button for caldari vessels.

What missiles really NEED is to be usable in PVP...

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

Because it makes the physics-engine cry Ugh

They tried it around the nano-nerf. Some of the slow-ass missiles could use/get a velocity increase tho.

NO U! No one has said anything about missiles being instant damage. Don't troll my humble thread. AND FURTHERMORE, SIR....missile projection V. :P

You can also try the implant and I think the missile rigs.

And a ship with velocity bonus, I guess.

lol tiny ass artillery shells fly faster because of inital blast of inertia missles have to accelerate and are much bigger and also have to guide them selves

A 1400mm howitzer isn't what I'd call small, but it still covers 200km instantly. Not 5km/s, not 50km/s, not 200km/s. Instantly.

If they made it that missiles were no longer physical objects and the effect we see as missiles was just that, an effect, wouldn't that be a work around to the physics engine limitations?

I imagine it would, and that would probably be the ideal way to deal with missiles, but let's be realistic, and stick to ideas that don't require much work on CCP's end. ha

Don't they have to be for the defender missiles?

This.

Missiles were nerfed out of EVE years ago. They don't even make good PvE weapons. Inferno is a nice expansion but it's 4 years late.

Totally. That's why nine out of ten Battlecruisers are Drakes. Because Missiles are useless for PvE.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

A ship like the cerb has a decent missile velocity with a few missile rigs... at that point you can get heavy missiles to go 12+ km/sec

I too agree that missiles should get a speed boost equal to that of a cerb, and flight time adjusted to match same distance as before... also, the cerb should keep its speed bonus so it goes even faster

Supercap nerf - change ewar immunity https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=194759 Module activation delay! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1180934

Actually it would be nice if missiles could miss. If they miss they should detonate close to the target with reduced damage. CCP could even boost the damage (a bit) to compensate. And ships (only frigs?) need decoy flares.

You're all forgetting that Missiles don't miss.

Travel time is the price you pay for that luxury.
