Are the "advanced" camera options a "hidden" feature?
I don't think there's a lot of people who know about 'em.

...And in extension of that, the evelopedia in itself is a hidden feature that a lot of people don't know about (but then again, so are DevBlogs and announcements - but this doesn't have anything to do with UI as such).

Oh, and (shameless pseudo self-quote from the Hints and Tips V.2 thread linked in the OP):
Scrolling the wheel in (almost) any number-place will make it go up or down. If you do a "hard scroll" it will go down by a large amount, while a "soft scroll" gives you more control.
(and)
You can fleet yourself, simply right-click your own name and hit "form fleet with..."

Hm. Anything else, anything else...
Oh, right, CTRL + B, I or U will let you write bold/italic/underlined text in the chat. (I, myself, sorely miss this feature on the forums)

Besides dragging and dropping, you can write part of somethings name in the chat, highlight the text, right-click and select "link" to create a link to whatever.

Searching (at least in the market-search thing) does a "contains" search, and not a "starts with" or "exact" search. This allows you to know just part of somethings name and still search for it. Useful for looking up, say, "afterburner" or "extender".
(does this count as UI? Actually, does anything in this post count as UI?)

The first view of the new UI shocked me and my corpmates but we gave it a chance and find out its pretty usefull, specifically the filter. then we have discovered a huge error with the live updating. Our corporation uses a communist shipsharing system. when a corpmate accesses the corphangar, the system updates the hangars of the other players and thus blocks the entire inventory of alls corpmates. that MUST be fixed as soon as possible.

my Tipp for UI
1. an double click on the menue tabs should expand an new window instead/additional the Tab + Click
2. the new shiphangar in the main item window should show the icon of the active ship like the characterwindow shows the characterportrait

Thanks for impossible Inferno o/

Edit: i used the funktion that implements the ships and items list in the stationenvironment . now when i switch in an ship it is not more visible. that makes me confused. please restore that activeshipicon, i love my shipicons Roll

Edit2, 3. Idea: an from itemwindow expanded window should be small es possible, without any funktion tabs or something, like the old cargowindow. maybe an optional button in the bar to adjust it. Window positions should be stored. that all combined with my tipp 1

Instead of requiring your players to stop playing and view an external resource to learn how to play eve, have you considered adding these tips in-game?

With many games on the market they give you hints and tips during loading screens. Maybe you could do something similar using in space billboards, the CQ video screen or pop up boxes (with the ability to disable it of course).

Lot of good tips and info - thank you - but the very fact that the new UI requires a guide to be useable says it all.

Windows and Tabs and Icons

First thing new players will see is the 1990's style windows used in eve and its a big turn off! Also, the item icons look substandard to anything released in the last 5 years ...probably more.

Something should be done about this.

To further the point ... I just re-subbed after a couple of years and in this age of smart phone apps, Windows 7 and Apple software, the eve windows look tired and outdated.

Once again, this is not the place to complain about the inventory. It's being worked on (see devblog: New dev blog: Unified Inventory Changes) and please help out by leaving your feedback in this thread.

But thanks to all who have posted good hints and tips Smile

F12 fuctionality is missing from your list

F12- Help menu Has direct links to the help chat channel, petition creater, and link to petion website, Evegate search and Evegate link, Career agent window access to find your training system if you get lost, Bug report creator.

Bug report creater (self generates system info and last logs generated by the logger). Logger fuction is controled by the Ctrl-Alt-Shift-M, Moniter window.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

See you around the universe.

Off-topic posts removed. Please comment on the Unified Inventory here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=112481 but the team working on the Unified Inventory is monitoring that thread. We know you have strong opinions on the Unified Inventory and we appreciate your feedback but please post in the thread CCP karkur and I have linked.

is this threat going to become null and void of all relevance due to future updates perhaps being along the lines of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ??

I do like the update re: inventory a bit, however, it has added a lot more moving of the mouse to choose certain features , bla bla bla ...

what I am thinking, perhaps the idea was good, in concept, but in practice, not so good .. I'll be 40 in a couple of weeks and that is more of a reason for me to move around like mad, I feel .. laziness is all in the head, although I've some damaged joints and parts of my body have been through a heck of a beating over the years, but for the most part, as much as I don't mind flailing my arm around with mouse in hand, I'd rather be able to manipulate more with keyboard shortcuts .. I've become (like I'm sure many, many others) accustomed to docking, hitting ALT - C (shortcut for cargo window) then ALT-i to open inventory and draggin and droppin from cargo to hangar , but now , that is no longer applicable...

Glad I found this thread; since I started playing Eve, I considered an Eve "Newbie Guide" and then one day I mentioned, in Akiainavas, the guide and some "vet (lol)" commented in a derogatory manner, 'a newbie making a newbie guide' ... what he is an ignoramous about is, "Yes. I'd have to say many vets have forgotten what being a newb is like, as well, things have changed and I'm sure they're not aware of such things" .. Anyway, I did start a site, going to work on the guide, not going to post it here, haven't done squat to it, as well would rather refrain from it so I don't have to not feed the trolls, sometimes they are so hungry and I've got the best food, it is difficult to contain mice elf.

Anyway, also a section for Hints and Tips .. I see this is UI related... and ultimately, I was wondering and am a bit annoyed by the changes with the new inventory system .. please try to look at manipulating inventory windows via keyboard shortcuts and not entirely with a mouse or touchscreen or whatnot ..

EDIT:
ah crap my sig !! ah well, go ahead and troll .. however, I know something you don't know!!! :P

I don't kiss ass, I kick it!!!

I got worms ..

No, probably not. I will however go fairly far in implementing feedback that improves this piece of UI though. Feedback continues to be welcome.

Any "roll this back" feedback is apparently unwelcome there.

So ... those of us that want this ill planned "feature" rolled back ... which thread should we be posting in?

You should post in the feedback threads for CCP Soundwave's devblogs:

Here is a hint: The new UI sucks dog balls.

Here is a tip: Revert to the old, proven system.

Here is a suggestion: Fire the moron that came up with this new UI.

I am so disappointed...this is not the thread for the unified inventory and we have repeatedly asked you to post in the correct threads, and provided you with links. Even if I had had anything to do with the inventory, it still wouldn't be the place for it.
I know people are angry, but posting in random threads doesn't help anyone.

Sadly I've asked this thread to be locked (at least for now) because it's just not contructive right now.
I want to thank everyone who did contribute hints and tips Smile, and I will be updating the first post with your addition soon.

I will not use it, because I have nothing to do with it... but the guys that do are reading the feedback and trying to solve the issues people bring up.
