Processor Overclocking Unit -or- WTF Eve Math!?!?

So, I'm looking at the new rig.

It says plain as day "CPU Output Bonus 7.1%" so I'm inclined to mean the CPU output gets 7.1% better.

Then it says "Shield Recharge Rate Bonus -5%" and I'm confused.

Is this supposed to be a penalty? Do the shields recharge slower with this fit?

Comparing to an average Purger rig, which says "Shield Recharge Rate Bonus -20%", I'm inclined to think it's supposed to be a good thing. Shields recharge faster.

Which leads me back to a stance I've held for a very long time.

"Eve Math" is r3tard3d!!

How about we get item descriptions that make sense?

"Bonus" vs "Penalty" and Positive Numbers vs Negative Numbers

I really don't care if that's how the underlying code sees the interaction of ships and modules.

I want to look at an item on Market, and know straight off "Plugging this in will help" or "Plugging this in will hurt".

Man, I hope you don't come across those 'RoF' decrease bonuses...

A negative bonus is a penalty.

A negative penalty is a bonus,

Logic'd.

That's my point!

I'm sure there's A LOT of math going on behind the scenes.

But I don't need to know those equations.

Just tell me "bonus" and "penalty" in plain english.

EDIT:

A negative bonus isn't always a penalty. Like the Purger, recharge rate bonus -20%

Yeah, I don't know what the **** is up with their bonus descriptions, they always pick the most bass-ackwards way of describing stuff.

CCP's descriptions are not very intuitive at times. It makes the shield recharge worse.

See... the debate continues.

Shield Purger (makes shields recharge faster) = Shield Regen Rate Bonus -20%

Processor = Shield Regen Rate Bonus -5%

Seems to me, both of those are going to make it faster.

purgers give -20% to shield regen time, not bonus, I think.

-20% to regen time would make it faster.
-5% to regen rate would made it slower.

What I don't get is why they don't just choose one - rate or time - and stick with it, instead of switching between them so damn much. Oops

None of them say "time".

They both say "recharge rate bonus".

It should say "Shield Recharge Rate Bonus +20%", or "Shield Recharge Time Bonus -20%" instead. IMO. The current wording is simply incorrect.

Stop expecting CCP to use logic, it'll never happen.

Shield Purgers have an ALADEEN bonus to shield recharge time.

The CPU unit has an ALADEEN bonus to shield recharge time.

Please dont tell me your somehow confused as to whether its positive or negative...

Until they fix the wording of some of the modules in this game(if ever), we might have to employ a little common sense as to what these modules actually do. Usually there is a good and a bad that comes to fitting certain modules. Rarely if ever will there be two goods.

It's not as bad as the RoF modules in which there's no doubt whether you're getting a bonus or penalty, but the description describes a 33% RoF bonus as a 25% bonus.
