Weird Crash killing Fleets for me

Hey guys

I'm running an i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz with dual GTX 670s, Z68 chipset, ASUS Xonar D2X sound and several SSDs. Eve runs great for an hour or so, and then it just freezes entirely. The image is still on screen, but it's frozen, while the music continues to play. If I hit ctrl+alt+delete the game starts working again... sometimes. It's making it really hard to do fleet ops or any form of PvP - I've died several times as a result of this.

All drivers and firmware were updated last week, I run Eve as admin and have done the repair routine with no errors detected. All other games on my PC run perfectly , pointing to eve as the issue. Running max detail.

Any ideas?

Maybe its heat issues?

Are you running more than 1 client? Windowed or fullscreen?

Is your CPU properly cooled, 2500k clocks well but requires a better cooler when clocking above 4.5, Is SLI Enabled?

Eve imo for ME is terrible when it comes to Quad cores and SLI/Crossfire setups, never had a smooth setup with them lol.

I currently run same CPU as you clocked to 4.6ghz, I am going to go ahead and guess you got the 2500k preclocked with the Z68 off Overclockers (maybe). I did and mine came with an aftermarket cooler. I only have a single GTX570ti MSI Twin Frozer edition.

Running a single client, full screen. SLI enabled, obviously ;)

As for the CPU, I have the top of the line Noctua NH-D14 super cooler keeping my CPU nice and chilly. As I mentioned, Eve is the only game to crash - Dirt Showdown, Diablo 3, Shogun 2, Tribes Ascend, Red Orchestra 2 and more all run perfectly.

Btw - it seems to happen around jump gates. Is that helpful?
