Some think about Margin Trading

Starting with an escrow percentage of 100% at Level 0 (untrained skill), each skill level cumulatively reduces the percentage by 25%. For a maximum reduction of approximately 24% total escrow at level 5.

This skill makes eve market seems like a furture market, but it's not the same.

As we known,In the furture market, margin is a performance bond ,you can short selling or buying long,Price raise up & fall down every second, the same to your margin.Loss or profit.LolIn case of loss or if the value of the margin is being eroded, you have to restore the amount of margin available. If you don't do that ,you can close some positions until balance,if things always turn worse, your money will "boom" like a eve ship.EvilThe worst thing is:maybe you have to repay to the exchange.

But in eve, this skill is useful for fraud. Some guy place a high price order with huge quantity, he sell the same things too. This skill help him to use less money to place large order,If you find the price difference, and believe the buyer is a fool ,you will be fool.PWhen you buy till the order quantity ,you will find that you can't sell what you just buy ,the order will cancel. The fraud sold out his merchandise and lose nothing. It's funny that the same function makes reverse effect,Pirate

I'm not a victim, but I think it's a good idea to make eve market and this skill the same as furture market.

1,Fraud will disappear, good news for newbie.

2,The Commercial activities increase,TAX TAX TAXPirate

3,Isk evaporate,money become less,price will fall.

4,If you don't have enough money , you can use this skill to gamble , rich or penniless, your two choice.

5,Another place to watch fireworks.Cool

Maybe his enter key's broken. I had a PS2 controller with a broken turbo button. Platformers were hilarious with that thing. I kept it around to let friends use it.

Yes you can be scammed using that skill but it's always been like that. If you think you've found a real gem of a trade and you're going to make a **** load of ISK, and you also think no-one else has found, well... In EVE if it looks to good to be true then it probably is!

@OP - Hm... I see you haven't trained the "Forum post formatting" skill yet. Next time, please do us all a favor and buy and train that skill Blink.

No, it makes it look like a list of unconnected points. This makes it harder to read in the way that it should be read (as a series of paragraphs) which means that people either ignore it or have to focus on the screen for longer to make sense of it.

Please, just write a post in the normal way it makes things so much easier.

A futures market within EVE would be awesome but there is no way to make it work that isn't open to abuse. The biggest being negative wallets. There cannot exist in the game a mechanic that will force a player into a negative wallet. If you want to suggest a way to implement a futures market that avoids forcing people into a negative wallet then please do so.

The Margin Trading skill is only dangerous to the person using it. It is entirely possible for me (or my alts) to lose isk because of it should too many of my buy orders be filled without enough of my sell orders being bought.

If people are scamming with it that does not in any way mean that the skill should be removed or changed to something completely different. The scam also is very unlikely to affect "newbies" since it usually revolves around multi-billion (or at least many hundreds of million) isk purchases by the person being scammed. Those "newbies" it does hit are those that break open the wallet as soon as they start and don't know what they are doing.

Maybe check the blog entry in my sig, particularly the end of the first paragraph. Roll

So if I let some one borrow 100 Acolyte II's at a set price wouldn't that technically be considered shorting?

A contract tool might be the first step in the right direction.
