LAG with new Inventory system

Every time I try to repackage or Stack All in the new system, my frame rate drops to 2 and it takes as many seconds to stack as the items it is working on (20 items to stack = 20 seconds)

Anything to this?

Sorry if it has been touched already, haven't found it yet.

This is my problem with the new UI. For example, when I got to 'loot all I get hung up for ~5 seconds.

Contracting or trading multiple ships (any time the game has to move multiple ships from the ship hangar) slows the client down to a crawl. This was never a problem before (could trade 300 assembled ships with a little lag, but now... I don't know if I could trade that many without the client crashing.

Same problem here when stacking/moving even as much as 50 items.

Really annoying.

haha, I knew there'd be a thread on this if I looked...

Just missioned for about 2 hours, with a Noctis in tow for salvage. Stacked All each time in the cargohold of the Noctis each time before dropping into the Items hangar. Prior to commencing, there were approximately 300 items in the hanger, fully stacked. After missioning, this was about 400. Opened Task Manager, ran a Stack All and this is what happened:

  • Framerate slowed to a crawl - like 1FPS
  • 4 cores on my CPU bumped up by about 20% each - I have an i7-920
  • Client became intermittantly unresponsive
  • Took nearly 5 minutes to complete the Stack All

I'm not going to comment on my opinion of the new inventory system, there are plenty of threads already on that and I've expressed my opinion there.

However, whatever code is behind that Stack All functionality that's causing that problem above is incredibly poor. Surely this was tested prior to release? Can someone from CCP please look into that code and optimise it ASAP? We shouldn't have to wait longer than it takes to make a cup of tea for a function that previously would have taken a second or two.

Ship hangar open, 100 fitted ships (plus 6 stacks of a few hundred other frigates). Open Trade window, drag/drop 50 ships into window. Game all but freezes for several minutes while those ships are moved. If I click the 'x' on the Hangar window (and hope the game hasn't completely frozen), the lag just about disappears altogether.

It's not just stack all. It's having the inventory windows open.

This made me try something and I think I might know what's causing the huge lag...

I did a Stack All on the same hangar as above after reading your post and as quickly as possibled, closed the inventory window - sure enough, it became instantly responsive and the Stack All completed - so that's a workaround, of sorts.

My theory is that the issue is caused by probably the coolest widget part of the new system, the Estimated Price in the bottom right corner. That value is calculated either by doing a query against the servers, or against a local look-up table in the client - I checked, I suspect the former, as it showed exactly the lowest sell order in the region on items in my hangar.

If you've got a hangar with a couple hundred items, then that's a couple of hundred server queries, plus calculations to total it all up, just to look at your inventory - no wonder it's painfully slow.

Now to see if they built in a way to disable the Estimated Price field and test...

[EDIT]

Nope, not as far as I can tell :(

My guess was the estimated price, too, and I couldn't find a way to turn it off, either.

Still no way to turn it off even after the patches since... performance has improved slightly in just browsing the inventory, but trying to actually do anything, like open cans in space, transfer between ships/inventory and stack all still remains a hugely painful process.

Same problem for me. All the metal scraps from salvaging take ages to stack and I had assumed it was the new Est. Price feature as well. What's baffling to me, however, is that so few people seem to be experiencing this problem and it's certainly not our machines. The only thing I can imagine the group of us would have in common (and that would apply here) is our location in-game. Perhaps this problem is more prominent in The Forge region, amongst such a large number of market orders due to Jita. Of course, since I have no idea how this new feature truly works, I may be completely wrong. Can anyone help confirm? Name your region.

Yes this is also KILLING MY GAME... wtf get rid of this pia ... I have the same issues as thousands of other people.

shitcan this system or make it tied in to POS guys, since they are the ones you addressed NEEDING something so desparately..

I use an Orca a LOT, and flying into a corp hangar with everything basically duplicated is the pits..
Takes forever to figure out which hangar, which tree,, its a crock...

Ratting? are you kidding? takes forever to wait to get my one whole piece of scrap metal out of the wrecks.. plus the screen kinda locks for a second everytime i hit loot..

Where is the benefit to ME for the changes..?
I had no issues at all with the old inventory system and looting wrecks and containers.. now my game is not fun..

Please fix this crap, so I can have fun again.

Confirming Kador just as bad as Citadel, as I routinely operate in both. No forseeable difference in performance. Others are reporting the same degredation in performance in any number of regions. It's starting to sound like it makes little difference. Maybe someone in WH might comment?

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

I have the same issue with this kind of lag and i do live in metropolis.

So i dont think that this failure is from the location you are in eve.

And salvaging / looting a mission takes ages now. Every time i open a wreck i get a short lag, and then when i hit loot all again a short lag.

This needs to be fixed

At the very least, please let us have the option to disable the estimated price widget... it's pretty cool if you're a station dweller, but out in space, every second counts and it's just painful right now.

I'm getting all kinds of interface lag since recent patching (not exactly sure when). Makes life hell as a station trader. I'm getting prolonged FPS drops (down to 2fps) every time "show info" on a player, view market details, modifying market orders. Anything that involves the interface purging data.
