The majority of players come from the US and Europe, both of which usually experience something called "Summer Weather" at this time of year. This means it becomes warm and people like to go out in it rather than sit indoors. Also Diablo 3 came out, there is the Dust514 Beta AND the Guild Wars 2 Beta. Plus there are finals in the US and kids here in the UK are gearing up for their exams too.

If you add up all these factors you are left with one inescapable fact. You are stupid as hell. Inferno has not killed EVE, Hulkageddon has not killed EVE, Goons have NOT killed EVE. Every year we get the same brainless comments on here about how "OMG EVE IS DYING" and yet every year surprisingly enough, it doesn't die. Now please, for the love of God and my sanity will you shut the hell up with your inane, idiotic and baseless theories, uninstall EVE and go play outside.

So you are saying people are haveing a better, more interesting time playing other games. I thought so. Thanks for that information.

Btw, it's raining cats and dogs all day in Tampa, FL today.

Looks like a nasty day in France and Germany too today (I guess they are small insignificant countries ? ) http://www.weather.com/maps/geography/europe/index_large.html

OH NOES!!?!?!?!! People are having fun playing more than one game!!! The world is ending!!!!!111!! OHMERGERD!11!!

That is pretty much how you come across, you know that right? And of course, the weather in Florida is the same weather ALL OVER THE WORLD isn't it. It couldn't possibly in the high 20's here in the UK and western Europe, no, not at all. And there aren't tons of EVE players here at all, no, they all live in Tampa where its raining and they are all playing Diablo 3 because EVE IS DYING!!!11!!111!!

Oh no, wait, they don't, they aren't and it isn't. Please continue with your planned evacuation of the game and forums.

Confirming that the UK has had some bright, sunny weather imported. Maybe it's a weather exchange program with Florida.

So you are saying a competitor's product is better and people are paying for that instead of paying CCP.

Yes you are right, that is to be expected :) Long overdue actually.

I tend to spend more time in Firefall game than Eve atm even though it is in closed beta. Again, looks like the competitors are taking CCP customers away from them. I regularly just scan down a wormhole and log off in it then bugger off to a competitors product/service. Eve really is getting boring and people want a change and it looks like to get that change, we have to move products.

The last thing any company wants is their customers to even be thinking about a competitors product especially one with a service subscription behind it.

Looks like the golden goose IS cooked.

Nice rhetorical tactic. Take what the guys says, and just use it to jump to illogical conclusions to bolster your flimsy case.

Of course, this whole post kind of falls apart when you realise that people have been waiting over ten years for Diable 3. Of course anyone who enjoyed the series' prior entries are going to want to pick up. This has nothing to do with whether that game is better or worse than EVE.

But you already knew that, didn't you? You just chose to ignore it.

In any case, we've always had a drop in player's online this time of year.. Of course it hasn't stopped people from looking at the sky rather worryingly every year and posting about it.

Who cares how long they've waited, fact is, they are paying and playing Diablo, not Eve and that is all that matters, more money for Diablo, less money available for Eve. Not to mention other products and services out there, one more gain for them, is most likely one less for Eve, unless you have an unlimited supply of money and time but I am pretty sure both are finite.

There was a time when people would call in sick to work, skip school, skip family gatherings and stay in there computer room during holidays to play EVE. Now if its not ****** outside people skip EVE to sit in a garden or go for a walk on the beach. Yeah EVE is doing just fine dont listen to the trolls. Roll

Stop being dishonest. The long wait is of course going to have an impact, as the ones that have been waiting for the game are of course going to buy it and play it. As you've just said, the amount of time in a day is finite. What's going to be interesting is whether those gamers are going to come back to EVE after they've played Diable 3 for a time. It's far too soon to tell, and it's far too soon to be screaming that EVE is dying.

Of course, that's leaving aside the fact that Diablo is more than likely not responsible for the majority of the missing pilots in the "Number of pilots" online statistic. It's Summer in the northern hemisphere, which is where the majority of EVE's players are from. As has been stated repeatedly by numerous players, EVE always gets a drop in concurrent players this time of year, and it always eventually picks back up.

So finals are over, which means lots of free time, and fairly nice weather, and the local high school is out too, so that's more potential players enjoying the summer. OHMERGERD EVE IS DYING. Seriously, this happens every damn year, and year on year there are more and more players in EVE. Stop trying to come up with lame ass excuses to back up the idiotic idea that EVE is somehow dying.

High schools are out where you are. That doesn't mean they're out all over. Up here in Canada at least, high school doesn't let out until end of June, with the finals taking place in the next few weeks from now.

Lets not forget that one can make REAL LIFE PROFITS in Diablo which you cannot do in Eve.

People are too busy trying to make real life money in Diablo 3, frankly that is why a lot of people are there. TO MAKE MONEY.

If Eve would let us make real life money, then Eve would get a huge in flood of players, and player retention. That could be where Eve ends up, if you read the "Greed is good" articles, you should have seen the full money life cycle part of it, they didn't cared who paid as long as somebody paid and if you read into it further, there was a full money life cycle potential there including getting it OUT of the game as profit. If you looked at the Eve API data types you will even see ATM enumerations there that could be used for this purpose... http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_API_EVE_Reference_Types , ROWS 4 AND 5. Hunt out me a link to the Incarna greed is good newsletter that was leaked and I will show you the full money lifecycle plans for Eve in it.
