CALDARI FORCES TAKE KAA ISLAND

Luminaire - Major General Bav Possamer of the Caldari Liberation Force has confirmed that they have lost control of the island of Kaa on Caldari Prime, after a large offensive launched by the State military in the region. The tiny island had been uninhabited until earlier this year, where it became a major resistance holdout. Kaa island was used as a staging point for launching attacks on seafaring military vessels, or stowing away resistance forces on freighters to infiltrate continental regions.

"While this may be a defeat...", said General Possamer, "...the Caldari Liberation Force has the popular support of the people, something that the State occupying authorities lacks and will continue to lack. We are confident that this setback will only be temporary, and will persist in our campaign to overthrow the occupation. We have governed our own destinies on this world for the past two centuries, and so we shall not be governed by those who attempt to dictate for us"

Meanwhile, a statement from the provisional State authority was only released when the events became common knowledge. The press release said that "all necessary measures are being undertaken by the Caldari Army, Navy, and other State forces to ensure the safety and stability of the homeworld". No official was reachable for comment.

Due to the asymmetric nature of the resistance on Caldari Prime, it is unlikely that such direct offensives will inflict mortal blows on rebel forces. This latest development serves as a reminder to the public on both sides that the planet will remain unstable for the forseeable future.

I could clean up that pesky resistance problem with a simple genotype-targeting bioweapon. It's a pity the State isn't as efficient as I can be with these matters.

As noted above, it's a shame that the Caldari State isn't dealing with this matter properly.
What could be more important, in the long run, than to fully control and maintain the homeworld?

It reminds me of the reasons that made me leave the Navy and the Protectorate in the first place.

This is one of the words that gets so utterly abused so often. Have you considered that the entire intrinsic value of that word depends completely on the perspective of the one using it, like all things in a the political speech surrounding any conflict?

'Freedom Fighters' fighting against a 'Liberation Force'. Amusing, really. They should unite and rid the cluster of all these bad people responsible for all the suffering. I've heard someone naming them 'The Others', and that it's 'Always them'.

Mysterious.

Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise.

Are we speaking about the usual title "Freedom Fighters", refering to the outlaw minmatar entity, or just generic warriors fighting for "freedom" ?

It is a putrid, over-used term, isn't it?

The Gallente can have it. They always insist they're fighting for freedom while striving to keep the Intaki vassal, as they once did to the Caldari. I suppose that's one thing I can admire about my former culture, despite my departure from it and my frequent disapproval of the way it handles things...

But at least the Caldari do not lie. They don't bother to claim they're fighting for "freedom" or some other lofty concept; the very notion of Caldari rule implies a lot more regulations, and stricter social order. And they do impose that order with beautiful efficiency. Under the Caldari, every person has purpose, no matter how relatively tiny. There is no such thing as boredom or unemployment, because in each man lies the potential to be his best - he may merely have to be whipped into shape to get there.
